Lovely experience with breathtaking view
We went to visit Celler Devinssi following a lot of recommendations on google and I have to say they were absolutely right! There are different options, and we opted for the pica-pica experience (3 tastes of wine + some food to eat together with it).
Jordi welcomed us as soon as we arrived and he was also so kind to reschedule our visit due to a delay we had when leaving Barcelona. He brought us in the vineyards where we sit on a table and we started the wine tasting surrounded by a beautiful landscape of the vineyard and the city of Gratallops. The location was really lovely and the food very good (all local - cheese, bread, ham, olives...) and Jordi was such a nice person that made the experience even more worth it. We really appreciated his genuine passion and his very friendly personality, as you can really tell the passion that there is in each bottle of wine you are tasting. Unfortunately it started to rain, so we have to finish the tasing inside the winery but it was still nice. We visited the celler where they age the wine and the room where they make it and see all the equipment used for production. It is impressive to see how much work there is behind that has to be carry on by few people.
We tasted some very good and interesting wines Mas de les Valls (red and white) and IL·LIA, this last one being my favorite. I totally recommend the experience and especially Jordi, a lovely and funny person that really transmits you the passion behind what they do in Cellar Devinssi. Also, if you have the possibility take a look at the surrounding area (Jordi has very good suggestions) but if you don't have time, just drive a bit around and have a look at the different vineyards of Priorat, as the landscape is...
Read moreOur visit to Devinssi Winery was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived at the Pi dels Llops in Gratallops, we were greeted warmly by Jordi, who made us feel right at home. The experience began with a scenic and informative journey through the beautiful vineyards, where Jordi expertly guided us in his van. As we drove through the picturesque landscape, he shared fascinating details about the origins and age of the vines, as well as the unique characteristics of the different plots. It was a truly enriching experience that deepened our appreciation for the winemaking process.
After our vineyard tour, we returned to Gratallops to the wine house for the much-anticipated tasting. The food plate, which consisted of locally produced delicacies, was simply delicious and complemented the wines perfectly. We had the pleasure of tasting four wines in total: three outstanding reds—Nas de les Valls, Il Lia, and Rocapoll—and a refreshing mineral white, Diviño. Each wine was unique and showcased the distinct terroir of the region.
The visit concluded with a tour of the cellar, where the wines are aged and bottled. We left with some of our favorite wines in hand, feeling grateful for such a memorable experience. Thank you, Jordi, for an...
Read moreIf you're on the lookout for a fantastic, family-friendly, immersive, and intimate experience in the Priorat region of Spain, then look no further than Devinssi Winery in the village of Gratallops (just an hour or so from Barcelona). We took our family of five to their cellar in June of 2022 and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
In addition to making top-tier Priorat (which makes the visit worthwhile in and of itself), Devinssi also offers an array of tour options, all led by resident wine expert and tour director, Jordi Ustrell. Jordi speaks fluent Spanish, Catalan, English and more. More importantly, he imbues his tours - which begin in the vineyard, traverse the cellar, and peak in the tasting room - with knowledge, passion and a lot of good humor! It's also worth noting that Jordi is extremely patient with small children (trust me).
If you're ever in, or near, Gratallops, I highly recommend visiting Devinssi. Just be sure to book an appointment in advance....
