For those who want a break from the big city, a stay at Cal Campana in the quaint, picturesque Priorat Wine Region of Gratallops is the aahhhh in vaahhhcation. The building has been recently renovated and no aspect of comfort was overlooked. The balance of modern amenities in this historical building was impressive. It was obvious that mindful consideration for visiting travelers went into the planning. Anything that you would need for a lovely stay was available. A fully stocked kitchen, relaxing bed and amazing modern bathroom gave us the luxury of knowing that our stay would be stress free, especially after a long day. If we did have a question or problem, our hosts were prompt and eager to help.
And did we mention the wine? This area is a wine region after all and Cal Campana makes sure that they offer choices to enjoy the treats of the region. Whether you wish to participate in a wine tour or simply enjoy a glass bottle of wine and delicious tapas at the downstairs bar (which has a slate wall that is super cool-literally) Cal Campana gives you the options.
Oh! And if that wasn’t enough, if you want to engage in yet another relaxing activity, you can walk a mere 2 blocks thru the peaceful village and find an engaging pool surrounded by a beautiful manicured lawn where you can take in the calm by reading, swimming or napping.
I could go on about how wonderful our stay was at Cal Campana and would recommend it to anyone who is like minded and want (or need 😊 ) a place where you feel less of a tourist and more of a neighbor in this beautiful quaint village. Thank you, Cal Campana, for making the experience just that more wonderful. And, yes, we have already planned for...

The rooms are spacious and completely updated. They share a fully stocked kitchen, sitting and dining area on the 1st floor. The ground floor of the building is a small wine bar open every evening with a light bar menu. Noise was not a problem though. There was a lovely restaurant just down the street where we had breakfast each day. A big plus for us was the help the hosts provided us in planning our daily activities. If you plan to spend time in this beautiful area of Spain, this is a great...
Read moreWe had an unexpected car breakdown right in front of the hotel — smoke from the hood, stress, no idea what to do. But the hotel manager, Carlota, was an absolute lifesaver. She calmly guided us, called support in Spanish, and helped us handle everything. Can’t thank her enough!
The place itself is fantastic — clean, cozy, with a view over the central square of Gratallops. There’s a kitchen and fridge for guests, which made things easier. On the ground floor, there’s an excellent wine bar with local bottles, and several wineries are within walking distance.
If you’re exploring Priorat, this is the perfect base. Highly...
