Review of beach front and town on my visit in mid October: it was predictably quiet with half the bars and restaurants closed and a significant number of apartments empty and many for sale, giving an impression of a semi-dormant town. The beachfront square is underwhelming and the whole promenade is dirty with dog fouling and looks neglected. There are supermarkets, bazars/hardware shops, bars, restaurants and fruit shops, fish mongers and butchers but nowhere offers organic foods. Which is important to some when you understand how intensive (and consequently the heavy use of pesticides) the agriculture here is under the acres of plastic that cover the surrounding countryside. Bus transport to the nearby town of Motril is regular with 2 bus stops in the town. The beach is a blue flag but dog owners allow their pets to foul the beach. It doesn’t use to be pack, specially Monday to Friday, maybe you can find more people during weekend as is obviously but still a calm and peaceful beach!
