Extremely poor customer service. Due to the excessive heat and a health condition I needed to cancel my reservation for a tour and tasting. Despite the advance warnings for the heat I didn't know how unwell it would have made me until closer to the time. I asked for some goodwill with cancelling my reservation just shy of the 24hour cancellation period (honestly, calculate how negligible that is in terms of %!!) and the tourism manager was very rude and refused to offer any level of goodwill with a refund and tried to blame me for not contacting them to try and find out what their protocol was for adverse weather. It turns out that they don't conduct the tour as normal and misses out the vineyard section which is advertised and just conduct it all indoors - so we wouldn't even have got what we paid for anyway.

Quite disappointed to not have any level of goodwill offered, even 50% would have been an acceptable compromise. I think given we contacted in advance and didn't leave them wondering on the day if we were still going to show up it warrants something. I hate it as a guest when you have to wait around a few minutes for no shows or people that are late and we didn't put them in...

I had a personal tour given by English speaking June. I am a bit of a wine geek but it was fascinating to hear the history of the vineyard and the types of grapes used. I even got to learn about the two ranges of mountains, one North, one South that protect Rioja from extreme weather and help create its microclimate. Outside the bodega they have little rows of all the grapes grown so you can see and understand the differences better. I had never heard of the Maturana for example but the white was a revelation with tropical fruits but good acidity to stop it being flabby. Perfect I would think with Thai food but very good on its own. I also learned a lot more than I had previously known about Graciano which is often blended with the Tempranillo. The Crianza was stunning.

I would very much like to thank June for her patience (I was late!) but mostly for her enthusiastic discussions and guided tasting, its also a family company still not a huge corporation so if you are anywhere near Logrono I...

Dear Cristina,

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the wonderful guided tour at Bodegas Ijalba. It was a true pleasure to discover the philosophy and passion behind your wines, and to experience the unique character of your vineyards and cellar firsthand.

We especially appreciated the personal touch and the way you shared the story of Ijalba with such enthusiasm and knowledge. It made our visit truly memorable. The tasting was a highlight – each wine reflected the dedication and care that goes into your craft.

We’re grateful for your kind hospitality and the time you took to show us around. Wishing you continued success, and we hope to return one day.

Warm...

An excellent experience! It was lovely to be shown around this impressive, family-run winery. Noelia (sorry if misspelt) was a kind and informative guide. You can tell there is real care for what they do, and even their emails have a kind, personal touch. The wine-tasting (3 wines) was great, with a nice selection of cheese, charcuterie and breadsticks (the cheese was my favourite!) We learned a lot about wine production and really appreciated being given the insight into their methods. As they do not export to the UK (I believe) we treated ourselves to a bottle of wine and olive oil to take home. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Logroño!

And what a great experience this was I might say, very nice family owned winery (not my family BTW, although I share the surname 🤣), I particularly liked the knowledge and passion that our guide, Juncal puts on the tour. In Viña Ijalba they produce organic wine, with good fruity touches on whites, and flavoured reds, we learned quite a few things about organic winery, and we had a great wine tasting experience, this is one of those places where we will come back in the future to renew the experience and find out what new flavours they might produce. Highly recommended, and kids are welcome (and not all wineries offer that option).
