Manzanares River Linear Park — Attraction in Madrid

It is a magnificent park and well maintained as well. There are a lot of spot to rest or allow their children to play. Many investments in the tree and activities offered. An excellent break inside Madrid. The main problem is that it is overcrowded with uncivilized behaviors.

I will start first with the bikes that people drive. You do not have the priority, and you should drive it in a way that doesn't put pedestrians in danger. We have been almost hurt by one of those bikes people driving like a rodeo. It is a family park, not the Olympics, where you have to perform and rush into people.

Secondly are the dogs and, more specifically, their masters. If you have a dog then you might know Madrid community gives you some laws to respect. The first one being that every dog has to have a leash and not be out of their master's views. More specifically, dangerous dogs mentioned by Madrid community. What I have seen are mostly selfish behaviors where dog masters do not care about others and unleash their dogs. Without even respecting Madrid laws... I have seen some dogs wandering around children. Even worse, a dog with a dog restrainer on the head, unleashed, smelling a trolley people let on their way to admire the river with their infant. Do you really consider others when you act like this ? Do you really know your dog reaction? Or that some people are uncomfortable around it ? Do you know some protected species of animals are disturbed by your dog you allow to goes in the green areas ?

It is the responsibility of Madrid community to apply the law and gives fines to people who break it. I will not return to this park for the dangers mentioned. Pradolongo might be less impressive, but at least we don't have the kind of incivilities I...

Es un Parque extraordinario. Y con gran cantidad de plazas de aparcamiento. El punto más alto del parque se encuentra coronado por La Dama del Manzanares, una escultura realizada en bronce y acero en el año 2003, a partir de un diseño del artista valenciano Manolo Valdés, dedicada al río que cruza la ciudad. Mide 13 metros de altura y está situada en la cima del cerro artificial de La Atalaya, que fue elevado a modo de mirador de la ciudad sobre una plataforma piramidal de 21 m de altura, diseñada por el arquitecto Ricardo Bofill. Representa la cabeza de una mujer, con el rostro orientado hacia el casco urbano madrileño. En 2005 fue inaugurado un sistema de iluminación, que consta de 24 proyectores, cuyas tonalidades cambian con cada estación. Desde el nudo Sur de la M-30 hasta la localidad de Rivas Vaciamadrid, se extiende lo que llamamos Parque Lineal del Manzanares. Por encima de él, atravesando el corazón de Madrid, en el escueto espacio que deja la gran urbe al río, está el Parque de Madrid Río. El Parque Lineal del Manzanares está articulado linealmente -de ahí su nombre- por el río Manzanares. Es precisamente este río el que ha configurado a lo largo de la historia su espacio, ofreciéndonos hoy un magnífico parque urbano y, lo que es más importante, un entorno medioambiental y un legado histórico capital en nuestro devenir como región y como nación. El Parque Lineal, verdadera cuenca baja del río Manzanares, atraviesa tres municipios de la región madrileña: Madrid, Getafe y Rivas. Dada su enorme extensión, inabarcable por entero administrativamente, ésta ha sido subdividida en zonas o tramos, con diferentes características según el grado de intervención de los respectivos municipios. Además del espacio del Manzanares ocupado por Madrid Río, un parque municipal intensivo en mobiliario urbano, en donde nada se deja a la improvisación de la naturaleza, coexiste aguas abajo con el Tramo 1, Tramo 2 y Tramo 3 del Parque Lineal, de muy superiores dimensiones y en donde la naturaleza y el Patrimonio histórico tienen una presencia mucho...

Tranquility and up close with nature while being in Madrid. This park is not visited by tourists, so it doesn't have too many Retiro style crowds. Very peaceful with a beautiful river that goes right through the park. There is a small hill you can climb with a statue of a person's head thinking (i think). This point gives excellent and open views of Madrid. Overall, very well maintained and excellent alternative to Retiro if you don't want crowds. There aren't any shops in our around the park, so better back yourselves a picnic...
