I recently visited the Motril Preindustrial Museum of Sugarcane, and it was an unforgettable experience! The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history and significance of sugarcane production in the region. The exhibits are well-curated, showcasing the intricate process and the impact of sugarcane on local culture.

What truly made the visit exceptional was our guide. His passion and knowledge brought the history to life, making the stories behind each exhibit engaging and relatable. He answered all our questions with enthusiasm and provided a lot of information for our understanding of the industry’s role in the community.

The museum itself is charming and well-maintained, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. I highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in local history or agriculture. It’s an enlightening experience that highlights the rich heritage of Motril, and the guide truly...

On an inobstrusive side-street you'll find the humble entrance to this fascinating museum. Through photos, videos, recreations and the knowledge of the extremely dedicated docent, you'll step back in time to an era when sugar cane was king. How did it start and progress? What impact did it have? How did it shape Motril? Who were the sugar barons? What caused the sugar cane production's decline? If you're curious about local history, you won't want to miss this small but mighty museum. Bonus: the adjacent library was once the stately mansion of one of Motril's sugar barons. Definitely...

We visited on a Sunday morning and were the only two visitors at that point. The lady who was staffing the museum was excellent. Really knowledgable and helpful. The exhibits and films are very informative and available in Spanish and English. (possibly other languages too) and I came away knowing much more about the sugar industry, history, process and resulting effect on the surrounding landscape. I would highly recommend a visit. Current...

Lovely museum that shows the history of sugar production from sugar cane. When we arrived we were the only ones. The lady told us a lot of extra information next to what you can read with all the exhibits. All of it is in 4 languages.
