Savinosa beach — Attraction in Tarragona

I have visited many beaches in the EU and this is by far one of my favorites for a few reasons: 1) Savinosa is a Blue flag beach(look up what a Blue flag beach is). It's a rating given to beaches with certain water quality and facility standards. The sand is also cleaned daily. Something I noticed in other Spanish beaches are cigarette butts on the sand. I saw one on the sand here, but overall very clean and soft sand. No chair rental, but there is a cafe, restroom and showers. Bring your own umbrella. There is a free parking lot close by. NO dogs allowed. 2) very relaxed atmosphere. Kid friendly. I saw many children present. Note that this is a clothing optional beach, so nudity (topless and full nude) is present. But, clothed or not, nobody cares! This is one thing I love about European culture. The human body is the human body. Nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. We arrived in our birthday suit, leaving in it too :) If you are a prude, this beach is not for you (I guess no European beach would suit if topless women also bother you). 3) the waves break a bit further out, so there is a shallower area close to the shore that is ideal of kids or anyone just wanting to wade knee deep. Do note that the beach is in a cove with steep rocks on either end of the beach. Do not swim on either end as the current can be dangerous. Just use common sense. Someone had to be rescued while I was there. If you stay in the middle part of the beach, no issues. Water temp in early October was still tolerable. Enjoy! Will be back! Bookmarked as one of...

Outside the city. Board buses 8,11,12 or 13. Get down at Savinosa bus stop. If you get down at Cala Romana bus stop you will have to trek a little to reach Savinosa Beach. In that case the nudist part of the beach will come first. That is a little awkward if you are with children. The beach is lovely. There is a beach bar...perfect for relaxing as it is...

It is a very nice, small beach just outside the city, reachable with the bus lines 11, 12 and 13 (one way 1.50 Euro). It has wonderful water and soft, fine sand, a nice beach bar, toilets and showers. One half of the beach is for nudists.
