This is a beautiful natural place in Gran Canaria. However, it lacks signs and barriers to prevent people from getting close specially on windy and rough wave days. We are a family of four including two children visited the place and unfortunately followed the visitors who went a bit off the path to have a better look. We thought we were safe as were more than 10 metres away. The water was snorting from the hole and we took a shot. Suddenly an enormous wave impinged us all! I managed to grap my two children tight but we all fell on rocks and the water went well about our heads. We could just see white bubbles under the water for few seconds! Luckily the water did not pull us inside the hole and had a lucky scape. We were too close to death and children were crying. My wife injured herself in multiple bruises and wounds and we are got soaked wet. Be careful when you visit this place and stick to the path despite not having the best view. I searched and realised that there have been some deaths in this spot. I expected more from authorities to keep this place safer by putting...
Read moreI can see why the Canarians say this is the island breathing. It can be quite mesmerising just to watch the water fill in and shoot back out into the sky and we were glad we made the effort to stop off here.
This place is easy to find with parking nearby, just a few minutes walk from the car park. It was windy, so we were cautious not to get too close after hearing of a couple of accidents here. We went in the afternoon and perhaps may have picked the wrong tide, or just not quite got close enough as it our pictures don't do it justice. If you have a car while on the island it's definitely worth a stop if you're interested in nature and geological formations, especially as it's on the way to lots of other spots - we went on the way back from the...
Read moreThe whale spout of water is very difficult to predict. Very neat when it happens. We were there for about an hour and it maybe occured 7 times on a large scale. Depends on the tides and time. Signage for the area is limited as is viewing of the area if you are mobility impaired etc as it does require crossing some dangerous spots if you want an up close look and listen. Area and walking path have been significantly upgraded and cleaned since the last time we came to make witness. Nearest public toilets that may be open are 30 min walk towards the beach of La Garrita to the North or the beach of...
