Torico Fountain — Attraction in Teruel

Teruel... alongside A Coruña, Badajoz they are the "quiet" cities of Spain. But they are very much alive! Their history museums, with free entry offers a true connection with the local ancestors from millennia ago! Pottery, weapons, war, arabic poetry, ceramics, jewelry and the most massive mosaics I have ever seen. The old fountain that was built here was actually an underground reservoir that dated from 1375, although this was changed twice and in on 11 November 1855 the current was inaugurated. The fountain has a large column crowned by a small bull, thus giving it its name of Fuente del Torico.

The original fountain was constructed in the 16th century by the French Engineer Quinto Pierres Vedel.

During the Spanish Civil War , in 1938, the Gómez Cordobés family removed and kept the bull in a safe place to protect it from bombing, and was only restored...

La Fuente del Torico es uno de los monumentos más emblemáticos y visitados de la ciudad de Teruel, en la Comunidad Autónoma de Aragón. Esta fuente, ubicada en la Plaza del Torico, es un ejemplo destacado de la arquitectura barroca y un símbolo de la identidad cultural de la ciudad. La Fuente del Torico fue construida en 1676, durante el reinado de Carlos II, y se encuentra en el corazón de la ciudad. La fuente está adornada con una estatua de un toro, de ahí su nombre, y cuenta con cuatro caños.
