Lovely building but in the stone age in terms of interactive technology for English speakers. The history of Valencia is fascinating but do yourself a favour and read it on Wikipedia before coming here. I got given a fifty page folder in English with all the translations for each segment. But it was too dark in the building to read it so I had to use my phone flashlight to be able to see it. So it was pretty awkward lugging the heavy folder around with the phone to try to read it, as well as my backpack.
So after a few sections, I gave up and sat down.on a bench to read the whole thing by phone light, which took about 15 minutes. It was like doing homework. The exhibits are fine but surely an audio tour could be added. The museum was extremely quiet, just one other group of visitors arrived in my time there, so it could be beneficial to try to expand its appeal.
The history of Valencia deserves a better platform for the many English speakers who visit this...
Read moreA very interesting introduction to the history of the city. The many short films are available in English, French, Catalan and Spanish - each one covers a different aspect of life or event in the history. Yes, they’re a bit hammy, but you get used to that and they’re actually very good in my opinion (and as someone with a lifelong interest and degree in archaeology, I’m hard to please). If you’re interested in how people lived in the past, or want to learn the historic background to visiting Valencia, do go. And no, you don’t need to take a torch to read the book, unless the museum is crowded - wherever there is a big description panel in Catalan and Spanish, there is a light to enable people to read it. But do take a phone with Google Translate on it, to help with descriptions...
Read moreThis museum is very good. If you are in Valencia, be sure to visit it, it is suitable for people of all ages. Has a visual and media environment to best immerse yourself in the atmosphere from the beginning of Valencia to the 2000s. I really liked this museum, because there are not only specimens and artifacts, but also video rooms where in one part of the room there are videos with people and life situations, and the other part of the room is a continuation of the place where people are. These videos can be viewed in four languages (Valencian, Spanish, English and French), which is very convenient for tourists. In general, the museum is very atmospheric and interesting, you will not notice how several hours will pass while...
