Itzurun — Attraction in Zumaia

Amazing beach. I hiked from here to Deba.

Flysch are sedimentary rock formations of alternating layers of limestone and shale. The layers were formed horizontally but tectonic forces have tilted them over millions of years.

The flysch are invaluable to geologists as they provide detailed records of Earth's history. The formations are found mostly in Europe but the ones in the Basque Country are distinguished by their exceptional preservation and accessibility.

IMPORTANTE:

1. APARCAR: si vas a estar menos de 5h tienes zona azul en el pueblo, lo demás es para residentes. Si vas a pasar más de 5h hay un parking gratuito en el puerto, debes cruzar el puente. Al final de parking hay una especie de "parquímetro" que por 0,50€ un barquito te cruza al pueblo evitando una caminata y aumentando la experiencia con pequeños detalles. A la vuelta también tienes éste transporte disponible.

2. Si vas a pasar el día y quieres un buen sitio en la playa, pegate a la pared del final lo más que puedas, no te afectará cuando la marea empiece a subir. Pero ten en cuenta que se va acumulando mucha gente cuando la arena escasea. Nosotros fuimos a eso de 11.30 y a las 17.00 marchamos sin aglomeraciones.

3. Hay una terraza, puedes comer, coger bebida, tomar un café y volver a la toalla.

4. Sensación de seguridad, puedes dejar todo en la arena, hay mucho respeto con las cosas y con el ruido, esto es genial.

5. Zona baño, aquí si que sería genial tener mas zona. La parte izquierda es para deportes de agua, el centro entre banderas bien marcadas para bañistas y la parte derecha debido a la cercanía de las formaciones rocosas no es apta para el baño. Hay 4 socorristas pendientes de la gente y de que se cumplan las normas todo el tiempo.

6. En la parte iquierda de la playa hay cuevas que cuando baja la marea puedes asomarte e incluso bañarte.

Itzurun Beach aka Dragonstone from GOT! This was an amazing location to bring the wonders of Westeros to our world. The rocks and ledges are truly remarkable, the parking here however is very difficult to get. Unless u stay for a few minutes then you wont have a problem. However the beach itself is truly beautiful. Didnt expect to walk down from a castle like structure so that was awesome as well. Greatly recommend to visit this...
