Jonkoping Museum is located in the heart of the Jonkoping's downtown. It consists of two buildings: The older one (concrete colored) was opened to public in 1955. Later, in 1992 The new expansion (Reddish colored) was finished and started hosting exhibitions and events. The museum has a great collection of the Swedish renowned artist John Bauer who lived and worked in Jonkoping. The Museum dedicate some galleries to its permanent shows, as well as some to temporary shows and events. Also within the museum there is an art conservation rooms. A small art and book shop is located on the ground floor. The museum is connected to the public library by a spacious hallway and a lobby where the cafeteria is located to serve both buildings. Though it is a pleasant surprise to find that a small city like Jonkoping can boast a mid-size museum, you will be disappointed if you come here having in mind to see something like the Louvre of Paris, the Metropolitan of New York city, Madrid's Prado, or Cairo's great museum. Read moreI came to visit a friend who is staying in Sweden close to Jönköping for a couple of months and doesn't speak Swedish and we decided to go and visit the museum and it was a really good decision. Everything in the main exhibitions is available in both English and Swedish (only the temporary exhibition wasn't, but we weren't as interested in it and I could translate it to him). We particularly liked the exhibition presenting people who have lived in the region throughout the years, men, women, poor people in famine, rich people decorating their house, a trans man (!❤️), etc. There was a true variety of stories and they were all interesting to read and follow. 10/10 would recommend if you're in Jönköping for...

On the opposite side, there is the exhibition area that are always changing. The first time I visited there, I didn't know that there are two seperate museum building seperated by library. I just visited the exhibition area. But my friend told me that there is another one near library. I revisited again. It's cool, coz there 2 new exhibitions for my second visit....
