Very nice place with lots of models of swiss buildings, mountains and oder sites. Trains, ships, cars and cable cars that drive around and make it somewhat realistic. Tough often it seems a bit dated. A lot of things seem to have not changed since I was here decades ago as a small kid. Its still nice and enjoyable but I expected that the park would also go a little with the time instead of stuck decades ago. Some buildings also seem to be very odd and ugly compared to others nicely made to details, which raises the question why are they actually here...
The app is nice and helpful to quickly access the informations about a specific building. The information inside is accurate, interesting and helpful. Although sometimes you find people and cars around a building placed in a way suggesting a special event is happening, the app mostly doesn’t have the information what is going on or why they where placed in that specific way.
While we where here (jun 2020) and due to the corona crisis there was no printed handouts nor where the restaurants open.
We got here by train, which is just a 5 min walk from Melide FFS station away and there are signs guiding into the right direction. We spent about 2 hours...
Read moreA truly unforgettable experience! Swissminiatur is a magical place that lives up to its name and more.
The attention to detail in every single one of the miniatures is simply breathtaking, from the intricate castles and cathedrals to the tiny trains, boats, and funiculars that move along their tracks. It feels like you're a giant strolling through Switzerland, getting to see all the country's famous landmarks in a single visit.
Beyond the beautiful models, the park itself is a delight. It's wonderfully maintained with beautiful plants and flowers, and there are so many fun things for families to do. There's a mini train for kids to ride, a playground, and even a little bistro. The whole place is incredibly immersive and a fantastic way to spend a couple hours.
My favorite part was seeing the famous Swiss landscapes and monuments meticulously recreated. It's truly a testament to the skill of the artisans who crafted them.
Swissminiatur is a must-visit for anyone who loves miniatures, is a train enthusiast, or simply wants a fun and...
Read moreA Miniatur could be approached as a cute collection of tabletop buildings. However Swissminiatur takes this concept to the level that’s pure art. The roughly 200 landmarks from across Switzerland are represented with such a high attention detail, it really blows both adults and kids away. The are many motorized parts including trains, cable cars, ski lifts, cars on a motorway, boats.
Staff is incredibly friendly, food was much better than expected at a small buffet (their fries were potentially the best I’ve ever had), you have a nice picnic area and a small train to ride for a small extra fee.
Buying the ticket online and in advance is a good idea as you get a discount.
Parking is doable in the area, however if you come from Lugano just take a train (about 9mins from Lugano Stazione) or the bus.
I think you can overall calculate 2-2.5 hours for the program, which we did with small kids and they loved it...
