A must go in summer I'm Geneva, if local or visiting. If not too dry and arid a climate, where BBQs présent a fire risk, then there are public grills. Beware however of leaving any utensils unattended. Had a nice pair of Bbq prongs stolen by some thieving ** one evening out there, even amongst friends and plenty of people on all the grills around.
Other than having a Venezuelan woman insist I must be Jewish, despite having no heritage whatsoever, then changing tune to "we Catholics and Orthodox are bredrin!" once I cited the religion of some of my ancestors, everything was great! Except the thief and her blaming day drinking whilst pregnant on her husband leaving her alone in the hotel room that day... Well an amazing place! I wouldn't go after hours alone necessarily, but I wouldn't be expecting to be harassed necessarily, just it is quite close to Paquis, and that could mean plenty of happenstance encounters, of any sort. So yeah, stick to it as a drinking spot in the dark or the open cinema nights in groups, or visit during the day!
Great to swim, they plan open festivals of sorts during summer, and it has an amazing view of the lake and is wonderful as a spot for a picnic date, drinks and food with friends, or a nice dip, just avoid where the ducks and swans are or clearly were where you enter. You may catch duck flees and get bit by some if you go close to where they frequent. Hasn't happened to me yet, but just make sure to shower ASAP or at least when you get home just to make sure anyhow. Just don't enter and swim by a bunch of ducks or their feathers are.
Also, beware of cutting your foot on underwater nails if there are floating wooden structures and a public on the water DJ/ concert stage... I did, and so did my gf of the time the next day even. And another person I knew too, within a week or so of each other. Otherwise, an amazing event to happen for absolutely free!
I wish they still had the rave after parties that weren't properly sanctioned, yet they let just burn out as unleashing all the late morning ravers upon the city was worse than keeping a contained and monitored for safety environment. I do not recall seeing them frivolously arresting or giving citations either, for example for smoking a joint there etc. Did not frequent them but the one or 2 I ended up at were one hell of a blast, and the natural end point for those out WAAAAY past the time good decisions leave the venues and get lost in the streets of toxication.
Hell of a time Still a great place, without fail, every summer. And winter, despite being cold, but especially...

Read moreGreetings fellow travelers,
I recently had the pleasure of visiting a popular park in Geneva, Parc de la Perle du Lac. While the experience was enjoyable, I must say that it did not quite live up to my expectations. I would give this park a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.
Now, don't get me wrong. The park itself is quite lovely and well-maintained, offering visitors a peaceful and serene setting to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The lake in the center of the park is particularly stunning, providing a breathtaking backdrop for those looking to take a stroll or have a picnic.
However, there were a few aspects of the park that left something to be desired. For one, the park can get quite crowded, which can make it difficult to find a quiet spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. Additionally, while the park does offer a variety of amenities, including playgrounds and sports fields, they are somewhat outdated and could use some upgrading.
Despite these criticisms, I do believe that Parc de la Perle du Lac has a lot of potential. With a few improvements and updates, it could become a top-notch destination for locals and tourists alike. For example, adding more seating areas and updating the playgrounds would make the park more family-friendly and welcoming to visitors of all ages.
Overall, I would recommend visiting Parc de la Perle du Lac, especially if you are looking for a peaceful and scenic spot to unwind in Geneva. While it may not be perfect, it is definitely worth a visit. With a few tweaks here and there, it could become a true gem in the heart of the city.
I look forward to seeing how it continues to evolve and improve in the future. As for my fellow travelers, I would encourage you to give this park a try and see for yourself what it...
