5/5 – Absolutely unforgettable experience. Oeschinen Lake Viewpoint was easily one of the highlights of our trip. From start to finish, the entire visit felt like something out of a postcard. The walk to the viewpoint was manageable — not too steep or long — and completely worth the effort. You’re rewarded with unreal views that genuinely took our breath away.
We were lucky enough to visit on a clear day, and the weather couldn’t have been better. The combination of the crystal-clear lake, dramatic mountain peaks, and fresh alpine air was nothing short of magical. It honestly didn’t feel real at times.
The area was impressively clean — not a bit of litter in sight — and even the toilet facilities were spotless and free to use, which isn’t something you always find at these kinds of spots. It really felt like a well-cared-for place that’s respected by locals and visitors alike.
One of the unexpected highlights? Watching the cows come running down the hillside towards the lake. It was such a surreal and charming moment. They were calm, friendly, and even let us give them a little pat. Definitely something we’ll remember!
There are plenty of cafés dotted around for food and drink, so it’s easy to make a day of it without needing to pack a full picnic. We took the lift up to the top which cost CHF 40 per person return — a little pricey but totally worth it for the ease and the views you get on the way up.
All in all, this place is pure magic. Peaceful, picturesque, and packed with things to take in. I’d absolutely come back again and wouldn’t think twice about recommending it to anyone visiting...
