I wished to leave a good review cause our expectations were so high. We planned our trip around the visit to this particular zoo. Unfortunately on the day of the visit, I had to be in emergency room in hospital, treating trauma. That made us arrive at 17:30, 30 mins before the closing time as it's advertised everywhere here and on the website.
We pretty much ran to the entrance, hoping that our little son will at least see a glimpse of some animals. We were denied entering in a very rude way, exactly at 17:30 because it now appeared that ticket sale closes at this time. Telling about our long trip beforehand, unplanned emergencies, all did nothing to her Majesty inside ticket office.
I often do blame myself if such things happen, and even here there is some of my fault in allowing the emergency to happen.
At the same time, I don't understand at all, why kid's who arrived before 17:30 are allowed to stay and play until 18:00 and my child has to witness it from across the fence. I also doubt we would be able to buy a ticket if we arrived at 17:29, because of the cashier's mood.
Get things in order and correct your advertisement of opening hours to be relative to visitors, not the time last employee leaves the facility.
Again, I wished I could leave a pleasant review, the only thing to have it would be to let my kid buy the ticket and visit your business at the advertised...
Read moreThe facilities are well-maintained and the staff are friendly. However, we were very disappointed with the food offering. We had planned to have lunch on-site, but the menu consisted exclusively of fast food, with no healthy options available, particularly concerning given that this is primarily a children’s attraction. I raised the issue with the restaurant staff, who were receptive but clearly limited in what they could do due to the lack of supportive processes from management. I strongly recommend a complete rethinking of the food concept across the entire zoo. It is unacceptable for a high-profile children’s destination in a country like Switzerland (where healthy eating is a priority) to offer such limited and unhealthy options. Knie’s Kinderzoo should take inspiration from restaurants i.e. Hiltl, Yalda of how they can offer fresh and healthy food. Additionally, while the animals appeared cared for, some clearly showed signs of distress, which was heartbreaking to witness. In this day and age, there are innovative and ethical alternatives to live animal exhibits that can offer immersive experiences without compromising animal welfare. It’s time to rethink what a modern zoo should be, especially since Knie’s Kinderzoo is not a farm, but a commercial attraction, and should be held to higher standards of education, sustainability, and...
Read moreCan you be angry about something which was great, but got less great and way more expensive? We were a yearly ticket holder for 3 years in row; but not during Corona. Now the first time back and there were some changes. Entry prices for 1 parent and 1 kid are now higher than the Zurich Zoo (before discount). Inside the park the Seals/sealions are gone; maybe for the good as they seem to have quite a small place. Instead? Don't know, it isn't open due to corona. 1 playground is gone: instead, 6 swings where you can wait for half an hour easily before its your kids time. Elephant riding? A few minutes from 2 chf to 5 chf. Pony riding? From 2 to 4. Horse carriage: from 2 to 4. Camel riding? don't know, my boy is still too young. But these are price increases you really notice at the end of the day. I love this little zoo and I understand that corona times are tough and they need to get some money back; but is a shock when you return.| So; if you can get past the money-thing; still a great little zoo...
