House of Spice — Restaurant in Rapperswil-Jona

I visited this Indian restaurant hoping for a delightful meal, but was met with a series of unfortunate events that made my experience far from enjoyable. Firstly, the service was chaotic. Despite the staff being friendly and approachable, they seemed overwhelmed and confused, which led to my food order being mixed up not once, but twice. Adding to the frustration, the flavors were anything but authentic; the dishes lacked the traditional spices and richness I was craving, but were extremely sugary. To top it off, the tablecloth at our table was noticeably dirty, and, being the last guests to leave, we saw that they did not exchange the dirty table clothes, but just shook them off and placed them again on the tables, with fresh cutlery on top. Extremely slow. Very expensive (all sides charged as extras). Small portions. Oily sauces. Tough/dry chicken/tofu. Padded bill. From the time we sat down to when we received food was 1 hour and 45 minutes. 25 CHF (and more) for 6 small pieces of tofu (or 3 small pieces of chicken) swimming in oily sauce. Rice/chapati not included, costs 5-7CHF extra. Chicken and tofu dry/tasteless. Sauces themselves are tasty, if you can get past the oil. Dips for Naan were also tasty.
