This is a review of the 5 star hotel across 2 stays in 2020 and 2022. Service: I requested a transfer from another local hotel and this was the perfect way to get to 7132. It came within a short period of time and spared me the walk up to the hotel with ski equipment. The chauffeur also helped me store my equipment in their ski room so my boots would dry properly. This short distance transfer was included as part of my room charge, which was a complete surprise to me. Breakfast extras are included (egg dishes, pancakes, etc.), where they are not in the House of Architects. I recommend trying out the breakfast muffin. I forgot an item in the room and they quickly packaged it up and shipped it to my home in Switzerland. This was an above-and-beyond service to me because they emailed me back within minutes of asking them about the item. Lastly, I have used the room service for before-dinner drinks. They surprised me with a small snack and dip that was more than I expected for a gratis apero snack. Single Room: Excellent size for 1 person with a giant king size bed. Heard nothing the entire stay except some minor noise from the hallway in the morning from the breakfast cart which unfortunately woke me, however I'm a light sleeper at higher altitude. I think the shower could use someplace to hold bottles so I don't have to store them on the floor. Finally, I was really happy with the excellent view from this room and woke up to a great view of the mountains. Penthouse Suite: We got lucky and were able to use a suite for one evening as part of an ongoing promotion. It is one of 3 private apartments overlooking the thermal bath and the mountains across the valley. Privacy is assured with full blackout curtains. Uniquely there is a soaking tub facing the windows, large enough for 2 people. Also unique to Switzerland is a top-of-the-line toto toilet that is completely self-cleaning and features washlet & heated seat. These rooms were extremely quiet. Highly recommended if you can afford it or gain access to this room through a promotion. Both rooms featured fresh flowers.

We visited the Therme Vals on August 8th and were looking forward to this trip to Switzerland since 15 years, after learning about the amazing architecture of Peter Zumthor's remarkable building in university. When arriving, we were confused and disappointed of the entrance. Walking amidst 70s-style apartment high rises, appearing deserted, with the Therme nowhere to be seen, we entered the spa through the basement and were welcomed by a large dustbin and an uninviting entrance. Walking down a corridor that was probably not designed by Zumthor and didn't match his vision, we were greeted by a friendly woman that took our 60 Franc payment and gave us electronic wristlets for entering the bathing area. Finally entering Zumthor's spa, we walked through the entrance gate that was, to our surprise, broken. It is fair to say that we were already slightly taken aback at this point. Nevertheless, the first corridor leading towards the changing rooms was a sight to behold. The changing rooms were marvelously designed as well, even though they have certainly aged since the opening in 1996. Entering the spa we were greeted by plastic signboards not worthy of the design of the building, telling us to leave our phones in the locker rooms. Throughout the building, you would discover these kind of small digressions from Zumthor's vision here and there. The building itself is truly marvelous and a celebration of water, with many details and rooms that are worth to be discovered. I do not want to spoil this amazing experience here - you have to visit it yourself to experience it. However, unfortunately our visit was totally ruined by the poor behavior of the visitors, which in the end must be accounted for as poor management of the Spa. During our stay, we were confronted with: • A large group of young men (20-30), smoking marijuana and cigarettes in the outside area. Even following our complaints, this did not change. • Water pistols being used to annoy other guests, by said group. • Our towels being taken by strangers, three times. • A noise level due to the guests shouting, that was almost unbearable. This is explained by the plain stone walls used in Zumthor's design that rely on a quiet crowd. • An iPhone, of which the alarm was going off for 10 minutes straight, reverberating annoyingly in the main hall. In summary, our visit to which we were looking out for since more than a decade, was utterly ruined. The building could not be appreciated either, as it is hidden behind hideous high rises. Our only solace was the apologies of the lady at the front desk when leaving, who was visibly embarrassed by our complaints. Zumthor's original vision was to build a serene Spa with a quiet, meditative experience, leaving room for introspection. Leaflets were even supposed to be handed out at the entrance, guiding the visitors in their behaviour (see Bauwelt 1997, Heft 14, "Fließendes Wasser, Geschichteter Stein"). Nothing of this was left 26 years later, unfortunately. In summary, the visit to this spa left us disappointed. While the building is a marvel of modern architecture, the enjoyment of your visit can easily be spoiled by the crowd in the spa that is virtually unmanaged. Try to visit off season, when as few people as possible are there. Two stars instead of one only because of the amazing architecture.

I had an unforgettable 2-night stay at the 7132 Hotel in Vals, and it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we checked in, the staff’s hospitality and attention to detail stood out. We were welcomed with drinks at the bar, and even our dogs were thoughtfully provided with water. A room upgrade was offered, which was greatly appreciated. The room, designed in light tones with stunning mountain views, was impeccably clean, with a minibar stocked with a delightful selection of teas and snacks. Our first dinner at the Red Restaurant was exceptional. The staff’s recommendations were spot-on, and the dishes were delicious. Afterward, we experienced the magical night swimming session under a moonlit, starry sky—a memory to cherish forever. The spa facilities were lovely, with two saunas (a hammam and a wooden sauna), but the thermal baths stole the show. My massage was one of the best I’ve had in years, both relaxing and deeply therapeutic. Breakfast at the Silver Restaurant was a highlight, featuring local products that added a personal touch. The staff went above and beyond to meet my request for eggs Benedict with wholegrain bread, which was a pleasant surprise. The grand finale was dinner at the Michelin-starred Silver Restaurant—an outstanding 8-course surprise menu with an Asian twist, paired with wine and creative cocktails. Starting the evening in the kitchen with the chef and team added a special touch to this unforgettable dining experience. Upon checkout, the thoughtful gesture of providing water and fresh bread for our journey home left a lasting impression. I left with one thought: I can’t wait to return! Highly recommended for a luxurious and unique getaway.

What a spectacular place - inside and out! Definitely one of the best 5* hotels in Switzerland! We enjoyed very much our stay at the 7132 hotel in Vals, located in a cozy and authentic Swiss mountain village not too far from Zurich and easy accessible by car. The hotel has a nice interior design, contemporary and elegant at the same time, with a special Swiss touch. We felt very welcome when we entered the hotel and the reception is placed in a discrete corner, so you kind of feel like entering a huge mansion. The employees were professional and helpful at all times and are also open for a little chat. We had a spa deluxe room in the main building! The rooms are very modern and offer everything you need, and much more. The huge balcony with a village and mountain view is spectacular and the shower can be also used as a steam bath. The eye-catcher was definitely the round bath tube in the middle of the room. Don’t miss to go to the thermal bath, just a few stories down – you will enter to a masterpiece of architecture. The highlight was definitely the midnight swim the hotel offers to its guests on selected days of the week. To eat you have various choices; from delicious pizzas to culinary delights created by Head Chef Mitja Pirlo. We enjoyed very much the delicious breakfast the following morning (I highly recommend to try the egg Florentine) with fresh bred from the hotel’s own bakery. Just yummieeeee!!! One night is definitely not enough and we will be back again to enjoy this exclusive 5-star hotel and Vals to the fullest.

We celebrated my fiancé birthday at the 7132Silver. We had the 9 courses menu with partial wine pairing as we both don’t drink too much. The courses were as expected up to niveau, particular appreciation for the amouse-bouche shiitake mole, the Lumare saibling, the sellerie with the plating elegantly done at the table after a small walkthrough of all the ingredients used, the Valser ente was a delight and the quince sorbet prepared in front of us with a show fueled by liquid nitrogen (holalà) were our favorites. Wine selection for pairing was adequate, prices at the higher end, if we compare with Schloss Schauenstein or Incantare. Some mentions for the Austrian red veltliner, from Weingut Mehofer and a more classic but nevertheless delightful La dame de Montrose, St. Estephe. The design is purist, dominant is the color black. Peculiar music choice, Kanye West isn’t among my favorites, I must admit. The staff was very attentive and kind, service was covered by all the staff (also from the cuisine - which I liked), but appeared at times a bit hectic. They surprised my fiancé with a small but very much appreciated attention, a little chocolate dessert. We were wondering why we didn’t met Head Chef Mitja Birlo, in fact he waits the customers at the entrance of the restaurant for a final “au revoir”, this (at least for us) was unexpected. Definitely worth the experience.

this review is about the 7132 Therme only: i'm sorry to write this but i find the design quite depressing despite all the hype. i felt at times like being in a tomb, the stone steam rooms are pitch black and almost scary. some outdoor showers with their sky high dark walls felt like my visit at the holocaust museum, really bizarre. there is no actual sauna, probably it would have added too much wood and warmth. even the wooden lounge chairs are painted glossy black. i know in switzerland they love grey and black and everything square and cool - but this place - to me - is desperately cool, it has the vibes of a morgue or a bunker. of course, the location is stunning, all amenities work as advertised, and the staff is as friendly as they could be but i will not return. i could not take pictures as it is forbidden - which is good i think. this is a insta free zone 👍 so don't forget to bring a uplifting book, the entrance is good for an all day visit. as some have mentioned before, architecture students should indeed come and visit this place. to see how architecture can be intimidating and frigid, and that there is a difference between cool and cold. i call it the "Ritter Sport" philosophy of architecture, german speakers will know how to finish the sentence ...
