When you first arrive, you’ll be greeted by the mesmerising view with many smokes escaping here and there. During the hike to both the main peak and east peak, you will constantly smell rotten egg scent as Qixing is a volcano, and also the highest volcano in Taipei.
I must say the hike isn’t really for beginners. There are algae (recommend to get a good weatherproof shoes with in-condition outer sole) and sometimes the steps, made of mostly stones, can be very steep at some portion and I would have to use my hands - fyi the land is so natural that the algae won’t even stain my finger when I touched them.
The wind was very strong at both peaks that my phone almost flew away, so do make sure you land-yard or something if you intend to take your phone out. I also thought about having my onigiri at the peak but the wind was really too strong to even allowed me to unwrap my triangular rice.
Do also bring drinks with you on this journey. Overall, a good hike and I’ll do it...

It can be physically challenging climbing up stairs for 1.5km almost continuously but there are some rest spots.
Nonetheless, there are mosquitoes at the rest points on the way up… We wore short sleeved shirt and shorts, and a few of us got bitten quite a few times.
It was starting to drizzle as we climbed up, but the canopy helped shelter us a little.
At the top, you can see the Mt Qixing Main Peak and relax at the pavilions, benches or on the grass directly.
There were also scouts and students there having activities, was quite nice...
Read moreA pretty park right below the eastern peak of Mr. Qixing 七星山. It has several groups of chairs/stools and tables for a little rest before heading to the peak. You can see Taipei 101, Songshan Airport, and many other parts of Taipei in the distance from here on clear days.
There are also toilets here, though they were closed when we visited in...
