One of best hiking trails in Taipei. Get off bus at Lengshuikeng and take 3 to 4 hours back and forth Qixingshan main peak. Trail is mostly stone steps, reed grass and bush around. The first goal is Qixing Park or Menghuan Pond (the “dream lake”), a high plain having wide and far view the Yangmingshan and Taipei.
Then go upwards to east peak and main peak, on the way anytime you look around you can see great view. Often in the afternoon the trail and Qixingshan peaks are hidden in cloud. A little congestion in holidays at peaks.
Not intend to take the same trail back? Alternatively, from main peak there’s a trail down to a sulfur pit Xiaoyouken, reaching another mountain side bus stop. Between main peak and east peak there’s also a side trail to the Yangmingshan National Park Service center.
Reed flowers sea is the main view on the trail in autumn. Suggest you go in every season, enjoy your hiking...
Read moreXiaoyoukeng Visitor Center is a great starting point to go up Mt. Qixing. We (in our 30s) who exercise in other ways regularly (but no hiking training at all), including me still nursing Achilles Tendonitis took a very leisurely 1.5hours to get from this introductory map that is right by the parking area and public bus stop to the Qixing main peak (1120m above sea level), and another leisurely 1.4hours to get back down the same way. Distance 1way is 1.6km, with overall ascend of 300m according to the info in the picture. Highly recommended for anyone who would like a relatively easy hike (:
The time required as written on the board is 60min each way, which I guess is for people who usually hike and do not take...
Read moreWe walked from Xiaoyoukeng to Menghuan pond, nice view easy walk, though some parts were very steep, would be easier to walk with the sticks. For people don’t have car or don’t want to drive, there is bus 108 driving along all the spots in the Yangming mountain area, start from Yangming mountain bus terminal goes to Lengshueikeng then back to bus terminal. If you like to try hot spring, the bus no 1717 to Ginshan direction, will bring you to the hotspring area. We tried 日月農莊, NTD150 per person for the entry or you can pay NTD 100 when you order meal NTD700+, hot spring after hours of walk, followed with a delicious pineapple bitter gourd chicken soup is...
