Dapo Pond — Attraction in Chishang

A pretty lake, very well suited for people that are not very demanding about its' level of naturality, as it is quite humanized. It has a nice walking and biking path around it, with new wooden constructions underway at the north-east side. It is a birdwatchers hotspot, with more than 150 species recorded (eBirds database), and has a very rich heron colony, with at least 5 species present, with tens of ocupied nests of cattle egret and black-crowned night heron and most likely several other species breeding. We did a canoe on the lake, we were there before 9 and we were the first one in the water because their selling booth weren’t even opened. But the staff on the Barbour let us start first.

It was an enjoyable ride on a peaceful lake, no wind, no rain, and sun is hiding in the clouds. Best time to canoe on a lake.

Riding a bike around the lake is also recommended, there are lots of installation art...
