Read moreLove this museum! It has become a staple in my monthly adventures and I try to go at least once a month. I do have New Taipei City Residency, so I can enter for free. But if I didn't, I'd still think it's worth the admission fee.
The location is in Yingge, which I have always found lovely and not too crowded compared to other touristy spots. The museum offers a wide range of artwork to see. I enjoy the whimsical pieces. One of my favorites was the exhibit called 2024全國兒少陶藝獎 where children's works were displayed and they showed a lot of creative ideas embellished with fantastical elements and the open-mindedness of children. I saw that exhibit at least twice.
The current exhibits are great as well and I'm planning on going back the Monday after this coming one! Unfortunately it is closed on the first Monday of the month, but I'm glad it's open on the other Mondays when I have time off. So many art galleries and museum are closed on that day and I'm glad Yingge Ceramics Museum is not one of them!
Also, if you have more time to spare, the park outside the museum is fun to explore and there are so many installments of art all...
Read moreIt once was one of the biggest ceramic manufacturing place in Taiwan. The clay soil and the forest in this area provided the convenient and cheap resource. The production was famous for storage urns, brick walls, and the decorative items on walls. It still provides the facility for the local artists to make their ceramic art works. The township has been quite commercialized. However, if you follow the nearby trails, you can find those artists working on their production. If they are not occupied, they may welcome you to appreciate their works and make a cup of tea for you. The ceramic museum is well designed and built in an environmental friendly way. The exhibition is not changed frequently but in summer time, you can bring a book, find a corner to enjoy the space. On the ceramic street, I personally feel too commercialized and lost the cultural element. That is somehow pity. However, people need to make their living after all. It is still worthy to visit the town and you may make an aquaintance with some artist and increase your...
