REVIEWS Hip and trendy tea house also serving home cooked meals. Located one level lower from the street with access either from inside their ceramics store or from the street. Not wheelchair friendly due to the steps but their staff was super accommodating for our 90 yr old wheelchair mom. Reservations are recommended as we were informed there was a wait, however, they sat us promptly due to our senior mom and stored our wheelchair on the street level. Two restrooms-one being all gender with a higher saddle and the other a women’s with a lower saddle. With a senior, we chose the regular seating(vs sitting on the raised platform floor), seats have backs but are without armrests. Decor is inviting with light colored wood contrasting with concrete. The lighting casts a soft and relaxing glow for its diners- great place for romantic dates. The food was impressive- with options to order as a set or individually, we opted for the set which included 3 small side dishes and a jasmine loose leaf tea. Side dishes- green veges, crunchy pickled white radish and woodear fungus?(not too sure if i got this right). Each flavor complimented each other perfectly. The wooden tray they arrived in was a beautiful sight. As for the entrees we ordered: 1. Mackerel w vanilla paste- fresh and lightly grilled with lime and salt on the side. No vanilla flavors came thru, which is the way i prefer my mackerel. 2. Stewed pork- moist and melt in your mouth deliciousness 3. Drunken chicken w mint tea-cold, winey flavor with a different twist to the traditional dish topped with sliced thin onions and goji berries. No mint flavors came through. Desserts- artistic in its presentation, one with a delicate flower imbedded in it, lacked the western sweetness. Creme Brulee with a twist of boba and a lighter flavor was my fav. Service is top notch especially from Steven Lin, the culinary director, who made dining here an amazing experience. His attentiveness towards our senior mom was much appreciated. She was over the moon with his kindness. A dining experience for all your senses

My sister and I actually found this restaurant while walking at Yingge old street, the outside decor's attractive and makes this restaurant splendid. The menu's also interesting if you want to experience GREAT Taiwanese cuisine. Besides, we coincidentally met Steven , the culinary director, in front of the restaurant. We talked a little bit and felt that he's the friendliest staff ever!!. That's why we weren't hesitate to enter the restaurant. We ordered some dishes and they're so GOOOOD. The taste, portion, price and service are reasonable. The beverage 's also great and it has some discount if you order combo set. This' s our first meal in 2024 and Steven even made it special, impressive and unforgettable!! We would visit this restaurant again for sure if we have a chance to visit Taiwan again. Thanks for all staffs and Steven for making this meal being so memorable. Last but not least, please come to this restaurant once, you will never regret to spend the time here. 💖💗💞

Can’t answer the rest of above. First time to visit this ceramic town due to recommendation of hotel concierge. Took train here and walked around and went to recommended cafe by hotel to have lunch at Teaday in basement Went in and ask if they have space for 6 pax. Lafayette staff was so rude and answered on loud voice no reservations no place. Then we ask if we could wait. She answered rudely and loudly again “one hour” !!! All the good attitude and feelings we got from the Taiwan people from Nantou, Tainan, Taichung, and Taipei were all spoilt by this ride lady. So we went back to ground floor and the sales lady heard about my issue and apologied as well as introduced us to try the Italian restaurant on first floor. Service here is so much better at Catching fire which I would gladly give 4 stars for service and atmosphere. Will edit for food later. Food at Catchin fire was average. Photos of our food.

Our local friend recommended this place for lunch, and we were so pleased with the experience that we decided to return for afternoon tea with two more friends. It was twice the fun, all thanks to the culinary wizardry of Steven, the restaurant's maestro in the kitchen. His enthusiasm for his creations was contagious! Not only did he walk us through the menu with zest, but he also spilled the beans on all the juicy details—ingredients, and preparation methods. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, he surprised us with a sneak peek of his latest dessert creation during our afternoon tea session. The hospitality we received was top-notch. Teaday became the highlight of our trip to Yingge, and we wouldn't hesitate to revisit it if we ever come to Yingge again!

Eating at this restaurant was the highlight of our day in 鶯歌!We enjoyed the cute ambiance, unique decor, friendly service, and delicious food and tea all for a reasonable price! Steven Lin, the culinary director, made our experience even more unforgettable, with his expert knowledge and suggestions on food and tea to order as well as desserts he personally curated. Everything was on point! It’s not often you have the culinary director, who is typically a behind-the-scenes type of job, be customer-facing and interactive, which already tells you so much about the restaurant. On top of that, Steven was very warm and genuine - you can tell he enjoys his work and loves the restaurant. Clean, comfortable, and good food and beverages - this is a stop you don’t want to miss!

Chicken nuggets were very disappointing. Ordered them because I thought you couldn't go wrong with chicken nuggets, but it turns out I was mistaken- they were some fancy, gourmet chicken bites, still had the skin on, very dry, still pink inside. The "European bread" came plain with no spread or anything. The drinks were very good nonetheless, we got some juices and a mocha. All of our dishes came at different times, which was a little annoying bit quite common in Asia. We also had the brownie, which was delicious. The steak wass quite good, despite being very rare, and the array of veggies that came with the meats were delicious.
