I have been studying at Chinese Culture University for one month now, and it has been an enriching and rewarding experience so far.
Firstly, the campus itself is stunning. Nestled in the mountains of Taipei, it offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. The buildings are well-maintained, and the campus grounds are meticulously landscaped. It's a beautiful environment to study in.
The faculty and staff at Chinese Culture University have been extremely helpful and supportive. The professors are knowledgeable in their respective fields and are passionate about teaching. They provide engaging lectures and are always available to answer questions or provide guidance. The administrative staff has been efficient in assisting with any administrative matters and ensuring a smooth transition for international students like myself.
The university also offers a wide range of courses, allowing students to explore various subjects. I have found the curriculum to be well-structured and comprehensive. The classes are challenging but stimulating, and I have been able to expand my knowledge and gain new insights.
One aspect that has impressed me is the emphasis on cultural exchange and appreciation. Chinese Culture University organizes various cultural activities and events, giving students the opportunity to immerse themselves in Taiwanese culture. These activities have allowed me to interact with local students and learn more about the traditions and customs of Taiwan.
The university also provides excellent resources and facilities for students. The library is well-stocked with a vast collection of books, journals, and online resources. There are also computer labs, study areas, and sports facilities available for students to utilize.
One suggestion for improvement would be to provide more opportunities for international students to practice their Chinese language skills. Although most classes are conducted in English, it would be beneficial to have more language exchange programs or conversation groups to enhance language proficiency.
Overall, my experience studying at Chinese Culture University has been positive. The campus, faculty, and academic offerings have exceeded my expectations. I look forward to the rest of my time here and would highly recommend this university to anyone seeking a high-quality education and a culturally immersive...
Read moreThe MLC unit is really not structured for short term clients, you will be placed in the normal semester long class with ten mostly more advanced students many with 3 months intensive study already behind them before coming to Taiwan (Vietnamese). The pace is fast, the teaching is mostly in Mandarin and the focus is on grammar and writing.
To me trying to learn how to write up to 40 characters a week with testing was not particularly conducive to me actually learning, also the text book is hard to follow and I think a bit of a mess, i.e. "modern chinese" compared to the more mainstream "a course in contemporary Chinese"
So, my advice is if you are to not already at an advanced level of writing and grammar, be prepared pay more and find an institution more suited to short term study, or be prepared to be thrown in the deep end with...

I've been living in the dormitory for 10 months straight and I can assure you that you don't want to live there. There is no heat during the winter, I got a lot of diseases from this place. Ear infection, asthma, buttons etc... The walls are covered in mold, there are [dead] cockroaches everywhere as well as insects (and dangerous spiders), no hot water before 18:00, showers and toilets should be shared and are dirty (mold / limestone / rust / pee / poo) etc... There is no blanket, no mattress, no isolation, cracks on the wall etc... You don't want to live there. Plus, the administration is lazy, they will not help you and will take your money and never give it back if you paid too much ! Be careful ! Try to search for a flat either in the neighborhood or...
