由大埔登山口至紗帽山觀景平台約1公里，沿路都有石板階梯，跟著走就好。但步道全程呈之字型向上，幾乎沒什麼平路，每兩百公尺就有地樁標示，可做為短暫休息的參考點。前六百公尺路程較為陡升，過後就慢慢平緩下來。沿途沒有座椅可供休息，要休息只能坐在階梯上。 整座山林蔭很茂密，六百公尺過後才看得到陽光射入林中。步道裡十分陰涼，但相對路況就蠻滑的(落葉很多，要注意腳步不要踩在上面，要盡量避開)，好天氣還好，若下雨時很容易滑倒，故建議一定要攜帶登山仗作為輔助，穿抓地力好的鞋子且一步一步慢慢的走較安全。 從紗帽山觀景平台下至陽明湖登山口路程為1.2K，沿途有木椅可供休息，路況也是之字型向下，所以也要小心滑倒。較陡降的路段可以微側著身體腳步微交叉著走。 結論：本段步道不大適合作為健身用的步道，上下山路況不友善，沿途沒什麼休息地方，但做為走完天母古道的挑戰步道(走了好幾次天母古道後想尋求體內腳力的...

爬紗帽山的南面登山口，位於紗帽路第一展望台附近，可續接天母古道。大埔登山口路線雖然較另一條陽明湖登山口路程短、全長約1km，但一路陡上且較濕滑，階梯上落葉青苔多，因此反而更需要小心腳步與體力，若從這邊上山則至少需要40-50分鐘。 若想將兩條登山口路線串連走一個環狀，建議從陽明湖登山口上、大埔登山口下會比較好走。陽明湖登山口路線全長約1.2km， 步道整體緩上好走， 途中會經過陳何界石、清代舉人陳霞林旗座等史蹟，一般腳力約30-40分鐘便能登頂紗帽山。 紗帽山山頂有一處木造觀景平台，風景非常開闊怡人，距此約1分鐘腳程有紗帽山三角點基石。紗帽山海拔643m，基石為三等三角點，從三角點再往前走可抵史蹟太子亭。小缺點是山頂除了觀景平台外沒有座椅休息區提供山友小歇。
