If your feeling fit, do it. If your not just look at the pictures here and pretend that you did. It's a bit of a walk from any other city sites and also a short walk from the closest railway station. That said, use that short walk as a warm up. Ordinarily a walk up this many steps would be a fairly easy going trek for most people, but in the Taipei heat, its a bit more of a challenge so take water!.. The view is well worth it at the top. At the top, you definitely have to queue up for a good photo especially during sunset as the view up here is amazing. If you travel solo uphill, you will need to ask strangers to help you take photos of yourself and even better if they are courageous enough they will climb onto a rock to help you capture the best view!
