I highly suggest you go to another Old Street - that’s because Daxi Old Street has a severe parking problem - we arrived in the afternoon (a time when many people were already driving out of Daxi) - we followed the “parking” and “free parking” signs but all we saw was a couple “already full” lots that seemed relatively small - moreover, we didn’t see anything that was “free” nearby - finally, after driving around and backtracking to make sure we hadn’t made a mistake and overlooked a parking lot, my daughter forwarded me a location of a lot that was down the hill (on the way out) but that was a good 15 minute walk - a shuttle bus system should have been used - especially for people with children and elderly - mainly because it required crossing a busy 4-lane road and then walking uphill on a very narrow sidewalk - we decided to turn around and go home - very exhausted and very disappointed - you would think the local government would see and resolve this issue - in fact, HuKou Old Street has lots of nearby parking (both on the nearby roads and a huge parking lot next door) and SanXia Old Street has a parking garage right around the corner - we have been to those locations numerous times without issue - this was our first attempt to go to Daxi Old Street - and very...
Read moreIf you like wood crafting history then this place will be great for you. 3 houses converted to showcase woodcraft history. The chiang kai sek guesthouse was closed when i was there. You also can see fei fei the singer's history. You can also visit the house she used to live.

As for the riverside, there is a transparent view lift and a pedestrian bridge. Not much there to see. There is a park at the top side of the lift and walking...
Read moreThis is a nice place to go, but really it's only good for a weekend trip if you're shipping or a weekday trip off you're taking pictures. It has become a tourist spot so it gets crowded on the weekends. Everything seems to close down around 5pm. Other than a few stores selling wood carvings, there's not much to do. The traditional Chinese style overpass looks out of place, but it's nice for pictures. Most off the shops are selling typical tourist toys and food. The town is a bit isolated and it might be a problem getting there and back if you're not traveling by car. There it's a large parking lot directly across from the overpass, so it's convenient for drivers. Overall, I think it's not worth it unless you're nearby or very interested in...
