Kishuan Literary Forest!

"Kishu An" was first built in 1917. It was originally a Japanese-style pavilion run by the Hiramatsu family. Because it is close to the Xindian River and has a pleasant scenery, it has become the center of life for residents in the south of the city. In the 1950s, after the war, Jizhou An was converted into a home for civil servants. The novelist Wang Wenxing once lived here. Part of the scenes of "Family Change" originated here. Since the 1970s, publishing houses such as Pure Literature, Erya, Hongfan, and Yuanliu have also been established in the south of the city.

In 2004, with the efforts of the National Taiwan University Urban and Rural Institute and the Chengnan Waterfront Cultural Association, the Jizhouan site was designated as a Taipei City Historic Site.

In 2011, a new museum was established next to the historic site. Under the guidance of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taipei City Government, a literary team, the Taiwan Literature Development Foundation, was entrusted to operate it. Under the name of "Jizhouan Literary Forest", literature exhibitions and promotion activities were carried out.

The "Kishuan Literary Forest" currently encompasses a transparent three-story main building, which mirrors the restored monuments. More than a thousand arts and cultural events have been held and become Taipei's literary base. In 2011, due to the rich literary history in the south of the city, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taipei City Government entrusted "Jizhou An" to become the first literary-themed art space in Taipei. A new museum was established next to the historic site. Since June, it has commissioned professional literature The team is operated by the Taiwan Literature Development Foundation. Under the name of "Jijuan Literary Forest", it conducts various literary performances and promotion activities. It officially opened on December 24, 2011; the city's historic site, Jizhouan, leaves the house. The restoration was completed in 2014, and it was opened for external operations in May.

This area is a very cool place to rest, read, grab lunch/coffee, and relax.

Within the building itself is an open space, great for sitting with friends and hanging out. Shoes off to enter, no fees, friendly vibes.

Next door is the bookstore, with a delicious restaurant inside as well. Awesome selection of tasty and popular Taiwanese dishes.

Across the street is a hip coffee spot, that often has very artistic offerings. Very cool people; Formosa Soundwave types, punk vibes, and psychedelic energy, all with the friendly and welcoming sentiment that Taiwan is...
