i did this hike during what started out as a medium rain and soon turned to a full monsoon type heavy rain storm midway, which actually enhanced the whole hike in a rain forest experience. completely soaked, with the trail turning to a waterfall/river of sort in places as the water washed down the steep hill part. so much for my water proof gear which seemed to have leaked and i sweated so much i was soaked from the inside out. .. but, it was a great hike. it is not that hard, like hiking any low coastal mountain, and the trail is easy to follow, near the top there are areas where you cannot see a trail due to the rocks you scramble up, but it is obvious where to go. about three quarters up there is a rock overhang shelter where i met a couple of thai people coming down. judging from the nylon tent like shelter on the top area, getting caught in a storm up here is common. what to wear, it is not that demanding, you could even do this hike in a good pair of teva or keen type sandal shoes, though always wise to pick the ones that have a front cover to protect your toes, and just shorts and a t. bring about 2 liters of water and a snack, though you could even just run it with none. watch for the salak palm leaf stems, they have very sharp thorns. be sure to log in and out so the park persons can know who went up and came back. there is a batttery powered cell tower at top that may give you cell signal, it did for me. you could do this hike in an hour to three hour depending on your pace and how long you want to spend at the top. gauge your water appropriately, the longer you stay/take, the more water you will need, and also keep in mind you will want to have water when you are finished as the park is not that close to anything. did this september 2016, your experience may vary and it has been rumoured that it is due to be developed with stairs and rails... so enjoy it before the tour buses...

I still cannot believe, that this trail is so highly rated. People, DON’T GO. IT IS NOT WORTH IT! To be perfectly honest - I am not super fit person, I am a little bit overweight in BMI, but it doesn’t change, that it was extremely hard trail! It was very hard to climb it, because of stones, trees roots, slippery sand, hot air, so you cannot even breathe normally. It took us “only” 2 hours to at the top with tears in my eyes. But worst of all of it… View was just okey. I would rather watch photos in google and not climb it to feel that disappointment. But then it is not the end of this torture. Then you have to roll down from that hill again through those stones, tree roots and slippery sand. It took us 1,5 hours to get down. And I don’t think we were going slowly. But only what you are thinking about is not to fell down and not to hit your head on some stone. At the end you barely feel your legs and feet, they are like from jelly. I am still shocked we saw some couples with kids - don’t do that to your own kids! I am giving 2 stars, because we were lucky enough to see big family of monkeys. They were not scared and didn’t want to attack us, just passed next to us. Thankfully, because other way it would be absolutely waste of my day, if...

The Dragon's Crest Trail, also known as the Khao Ngon Nak Nature Trail, is a rewarding hiking experience that offers spectacular panoramic views of Krabi province, Thailand. This trail isn't for the faint of heart, but the effort is absolutely worth it. The trail stretches approximately 3.7 kilometers, leading hikers through lush rainforest, over steep inclines, and rocky terrain. Along the way, hikers can admire the region's diverse flora and fauna, and sometimes even encounter wildlife. What truly makes the Dragon's Crest Trail special is its culminating point: the summit, where a 360-degree view opens up, showcasing distant Andaman Sea islands, verdant forests, and the unique limestone rock formations characteristic of this area. Reaching the peak is a truly magical moment, creating a sense of accomplishment and awe. However, it's important to note that the trail can be challenging, requiring good physical fitness and suitable footwear. It's also recommended to bring plenty of water and sun protection. In conclusion, the Dragon's Crest Trail is an unforgettable adventure for those who love nature and hiking. The incredible views and the sense of achievement make this trail a must-do...

If there is one thing you must do when in Ao Nang it is visit this viewpoint outside of town. From here you can see the entire surrounding area of Krabi. It is well worth your while. Its not difficult but enduring. The first 2k upwards is the most challenging part because of the rough terrain. Although there is a defined trail all the way it is very uneven and slippery due to rocks, roots and mud. After that it easens up a bit, where the trail gets a bit smoother. The final part is more rocky and you might need to help climb up with your hands, for balance. Finally at the top make sure to take your time to enjoy the view in all directions. I suggest you don't make the extra effort to do the detours on the way. Even though they are very short they doesn't really show anything spectacular. At least in comparison to the top view. To bring: 200 for entrance fee Preferably walking shoes with good soles, due to the slippery and uneven ground. Sandals are fine but it's gonna be harder. 1.5l of water and snacks Small towel to wipe your sweat. Because of the humid atmosphere you'll need it. Celebratory beer for the top. A good Walking stick will make it a lot easier.
