If you’re in Nong Khai, a visit to Tha Sadet Market is a must. Located along the scenic Mekong River, this market offers a blend of local charm and cross-border culture.

The market is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some stalls opening as early as 7:30 AM and staying open until late at night.

As you stroll through the covered walkways, you’ll find a variety of goods, from local handicrafts and textiles to imported items from Laos, Vietnam, and China. It’s an ideal spot to pick up unique souvenirs and experience the local shopping scene.

Food enthusiasts will appreciate the selection of street food available. From barbecued fish to papaya salad, there’s something to satisfy every palate.

Tips for Visiting Tha Sadet Market: • Timing: Visit early in the day to avoid crowds and enjoy a more relaxed shopping experience. • Cash: Bring cash, as many vendors may not accept credit cards. • Bargaining: Bargaining is common, so feel free to negotiate prices. • Exploration: Take your time to explore; the best finds are often in the less crowded stalls.

After shopping, consider taking a leisurely walk along the river promenade. On Saturday nights, you might catch street performances, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

Tha Sadet Market offers a genuine glimpse into the local lifestyle and is a delightful addition to your Nong...

Also known as the Indochina market, Tha Sadet market sells all sorts of what I would call bits and bobs and other items including cheap t-shirts, electrical items, snacks, and souvenirs. Mostly imported from China and Laos.

There are some interesting and unique items sold within the market among the bits and bobs, and as with most cheap market places there’s usually something useful for everyone to buy.

It’s a large indoor market and can get pretty hot inside during the hotter months after 12pm. It’s better to visit earlier if possible. Worth checking out if you’re staying in Nong Khai for a night or two. If you’re staying in Nong Khai on a Saturday night then you are in luck. Saturday night hosts the riverfront market which is lively and a lot more fun with entertainment. If you haven’t booked a place to stay as yet there are many hotels and guesthouses near this market and the area is the ideal location for travellers (i.e., close to restaurants,...

Tha Sadet Market is a must see place in Nong Khai. It covers a wide area of streets and has a great variety of goods for sale including electronics, clothes, silk, food, toys etc etc.

The coffee bar beside the Mekong at the centre of the market has good coffee and relaxing atmosphere, You enter at the point where the narrow enclosed street widens out at a junction and go through to the riverside via the shop selling wine and other up market goods.

There are several restaurants at the downstream end of the market that sell a range of Thai food on the first floor overlooking the river, There is also a good Vietnamese restaurant at the upstream end of the market.

However our favourite is a small pork, chicken, duck and rice restaurant at the upstream end and open to the main path through the market. The food is delicious and very cheap. I have posted a...

This was our first time to go to this market. Initially I thought the market was small but in the end it was very large. It was so large that we were not able to see all of it. There were many people and many stores. The stores were very interesting and the price of work excellent. If you're in the area I would recommend coming and visiting this market it is the most interesting thing I saw here. A year later, this place is still very cool and they have updated it too.

Tha Sadet Market is one of the largest and most well-known markets in Nongkhai. It used to be very busy and packed with visitors, but nowadays it feels quieter. Still, it’s a great place to explore, especially for cheap souvenirs, snacks, and local products. You’ll find everything from dried goods to clothes and imported items. It may not have the same buzz as before, but it’s still worth a stroll if you’re in town.

I love this marked areas it’s just has a different vibe to it and the shops are just PACKED with all things you could ever image and then a bit more. Easy to visit also on rainy days as there’s a roof covering all of the marked area. Very authentic and prices are among the cheapest you will find in Thailand in general. Go see this place. It’s most definitely a must visit place in Nong Khai
