Wat Phra Yai offers a harmonious blend of cultural heritage, spiritual enrichment, and scenic beauty, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring Pattaya.

🛕 Temple Highlights

Seven-Day Buddhas: The temple grounds feature smaller Buddha statues representing each day of the week, allowing devotees to pay respects to the Buddha corresponding to their birth day.

Cultural Significance: Wat Phra Yai serves as a place of worship and meditation for locals and offers visitors insight into Thai Buddhist traditions and practices.

🌅 Visitor Experience

Scenic Views: The temple's hilltop location provides breathtaking vistas of Pattaya's coastline and cityscape, making it a favored spot for photography and contemplation.

Peaceful Ambiance: Many visitors describe the temple as a serene retreat from the city's hustle, with the scent of incense and the sounds of distant chants enhancing the spiritual atmosphere.

Accessibility: The temple is open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and there is no entrance fee. However, donations are welcomed to support the temple's upkeep.

Just to share this Must-See features to help you appreciate this incredible site!!!

Managed to visit and was amazed by one of the largest Lord Buddha in the world in Pattaya known as Wat Phra Yai, The Giant/ The Big Golden Buddha Temple.

The hilltop location of the statue of Lord Buddha was 300 feet high and was established in 1977 and is often referred to as Luang Phor Yhai or Big Buddha Temple by the locals.

The 18-meter-tall or 40-foot-tall Lord Buddha statue is a breathtaking sight during sunset when the surrounding landscape is bathed in warm light as it set apart from many other city attractions.

The well-maintained long stairway leads to the Lord Buddha and various smaller statues which surround the huge masterpiece on the hill. (Please see video)

Tips/ Note for Visitors:

  1. Easy access to commute there via BOLT/GRAB. Entrance is FOC (Free of charge) Donations are welcome via: Donation box, Donation box for orphan deceased, buying offerings there eg: incense/ flower garlands/ candles/ releasing of birds, Make a wish tree, clip your own currency or Thai baht at arrow/spade-looking leaf(if I am not wrong) and items can be purchased there…🙏🏻 Dress appropriately/ modestly (cover shoulders & knees) May consider visiting early in the morning or later evening to avoid crowds on popular times. Appreciate the scenic views from the top to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere & structures. Great for sunset viewing that offers fabulous views & landscapes… (May want to consider doing Yoga there too😊)
