Wat Maechon — Attraction in Sukhothai Province

Wat Mae Chon (วัดแม่โจน) (unknown age) This small temple is located immediately to the north of the old San Luang Gate. It is relatively unremarkable apart from the seated Buddha image which is in a good position to catch the first rays of the rising sun. The image, fashioned in the familiar Maravijaya pose (subduing Mara) sits upon a rectangular viharn base measuring 7.5 x 11.5 m.
