Nong Prajak Park is one of three reservoirs in Udon Thani that have been developed to create a recreational centre for the city, (the others are at Nong Sim Park and Nong Bua Park) a place where you can walk and exercise. Nong Prajak Park is in the central western part of Udon Thani, and about a 30 minute walk from the Day and Night complex. It is an easy walk but there are Tuk Tuks and Songthaew buses that will take you there and back, if you do not fancy walking in the heat. The Loy Krathong festival also takes place here in November.

Most Thai's do not visit the park until the late afternoon as the sun begins to set, and looses some of its heat. The park is used for walking and jogging, and included in the park are a number of climbing frames, swings and other attractions for the kids to burn off some energy.

If you want a pleasant and really quiet walk around Prajak Park, the best time to go is in the early morning, somewhere around 7.00 - 10.00 before the sun does gets too hot. There are well designed footpaths to walk on, which will take you over two suspension bridges as you go around, as well as a large number of flower beds, shrubberies etc. You will also find a few booths selling cold drinks, which are always welcome.

There are two entrances to Prajak Park, the main entrance is opposite the Prajaktra Hotel, the other is on the other side of the reservoir, on Thesa Alley, where you will often find many food stalls. There are also street massages available here in the evenings.

Feeding the massive fish population is common practice here, with some people selling food especially for this purpose. Fishing is not permitted in the reservoir at any time, so the fish do grow large here and you will see lots of them. If you stand on any of the bridges, you are likely to see shoals of fish close to the bankside, and it can be quite an impressive site. In addition to the street vendors, there are a few restaurants in the immediate area, such as 'Bubba's Grill' and...

This 200-acre green lung circles a man-made lake like a lazy figure skater with commitment issues. At just over 3 km round, it’s ideal for joggers, lovers, cyclists, and existential wanderers pretending to work out.

The park is named after Prince Prajak Sinlapakhom, founder of Udon Thani—because nothing says legacy like flocks of pigeons and paddle boats shaped like swans. But the real stars here? Three enormous yellow rubber ducks that bob on the water like mascots for adult arrested development. Originally inflatable, they were so loved that the city made them permanent. Because nothing says urban pride like “giant plastic bird floats”.

👟 Loop: ~3.2 km 🦆 Duck count: 3, sometimes more during mating season (just kidding) 🚴‍♀️ Amenities: cycle paths, exercise stations, bridges that wobble just enough to remind you of your own mortality 📸 Selfie potential: dangerously high 🕓 Opens at 4 AM because apparently Udon Thani is training for the Olympics

In the evening, it transforms into a semi-chaotic fairground of food stalls, couples in matching tees, and that one guy doing shirtless Tai Chi by the lake like it’s a Bruce Lee movie and he’s the deleted scene.

Good for: fitness, fake fitness, romantic strolls, aggressive duck photography, and pretending your life has balance. Avoid if you’re allergic to...

Best Park in Udon Thani – Great for Everyone!

This is hands down the best park in Udon! The atmosphere is amazing — peaceful, green, and full of life. You'll find people of all ages enjoying different activities here: from cycling, jogging, and football to group dance practices and more. There are exercise machines available for free, making it a great spot to work out. If you're just looking to relax, you can sit by the water and enjoy the cool breeze — it's incredibly refreshing. The park is also very family-friendly. There's a separate, safe area with swings and playgrounds just for kids, so parents can relax while their children play. What makes it even better is that there are cafes and restaurants nearby, so you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat before or after your visit. Overall, it’s a perfect place to chill, exercise, or spend time with friends and family.

Highly recommended for locals...
