My family and I try and visit Branson at least once a year. And within those visits, it’s about a 99.9% chance a visit to Silver Dollar City is happening. Well this year our eight year old is able to ride more rides than last year. Though technically he was able to ride Thunderation last year, every day we visited it was closed for repairs. But this yes, it was up and running. Now my wife and I have both rode it in prior years with our now adult children. In theory, it’s a cool roller coaster. It brings back the nostalgic memories of my childhood riding the wooden roller coaster here in Texas. Thankfully for that one, they did a complete overhaul on it. Combining the classic wooden roller coaster feel with a more modern steel roller coaster. Making a smoother ride and not feeling like as soon as you get off the ride having to schedule an appointment with your chiropractor. After my son’s first ride, it shook him up a little bit. He said he didn’t want to ride it as it hurt his neck. Then 20 minutes later he wanted to ride it again. So take that with a grain of salt. We rode two more times within the span of the week we were there. It seemed better if you were sitting in the first car than any other. So for my recommendation, yes it’s a cool ride with all the nostalgia you could ask for. But I wouldn’t gauge the entire park experience on that ride. There are far better rides there. Right next to it is the Time Traveler and it’s a the top of the list. But give it a ride yourself and come to your own...
Read moreWe went to Silverdollar city on a Tuesday. We flew into Branson from Naples, Florida Silverdollar city was so much fun. I took my 15, 13 and 10-year-old. It was the perfect ages to take all of the kids because they could ride everything at the park. Honestly, even if your kids aren’t tall enough to ride everything, the park has so many rides that are age friendly there is something for everyone to do, I believe that this is why the park is so highly rated. It is extremely family friendly. Thunderation was so much fun. My kids loved it and so did my mom who is almost 70 years old. It was a little bit of a rough ride, but Totally worth it. The kids were screaming with excitement but at the same time not too scared. The line was short, which I had heard was common for a Tuesday. I actually chose to go on a Tuesday because I had heard lines would not be long. We had purchased trailblazer passes just in case, but I wish I would’ve skipped them because we could’ve gotten through all of the rides without ever having to use them. Live and learn! I highly recommend Silverdollar city. There are tons of things to do in Branson and your kids will want to try everything especially when they see the smaller roller coasters and Ferris wheel and other things along the strip but make sure that you try Silverdollar city because it’s way better than the other...
Read moreThunderation was my first “big” coaster when I was about four/five years old. Now, at 17, I’ve ridden this ride about every way possible and it never gets old. It’s a rollercoaster I’ll never get tired of, possibly for nostalgic reasons or just because it’s that good to me. The only con is how rough it can be. The best place to sit is the middle; the front lags and the back will just give you extreme whiplash. If you ride in a fairly empty train prepare to get thrown around a bit. Overall, this ride is my all time favourite at Silver Dollar City, it’s always the first ride I ride when I visit annually in the summer as an “invitation ride”. It’s the best and forever will be, it’s...
