One of the best museums to learn about the history of Trinidad and Tobago. Pre colonial society, the various industries we dabbled in to develop our economy, the various cultures that settled here, local society before the widespread use of information and technology, the wide variety of local flora and fauna even a history of our own international sporting icons can all be experienced at the museum. I was surprised at how many exhibits and artifacts there were and how in depth the information provided about some exhibits were. The only issue in my opinion was that there were no museum guides to accompany you on the exhibits, so while visiting the exhibits and some information about a particular artifact or something relating to the exhibit needed clarification, you would be left clueless. There are employees at the museums however but no one to actually accompany you through the exhibits in the museum. Nevertheless I think it is a place every Trinbagonian should experience, to know your country's history and appreciate it. My personal favourite is the natural history room located on the second floor. There you would find a variety of our local flora and fauna and a host of ancient artifacts and the histories of a variety of native cultures that exist in our...

The museum has put effort into its offerings to the public, mostly in the art gallery which is located on the top floor of the building. The art gallery contains pieces of work both paintings and sculptures by artists both familiar and unknown to the Trinidadian public. There is now an AV Room to show films and have discussions on the ground floor and there is evidence of more work to be done. However there are traditional displays that could could use some sprucing up and perhaps a better layout and, admittedly, some can be discarded all together, but for the price of free not a bad way to spend an...

Great cultural history. Beautiful pieces of art work. Unfortunately you are not allowed to take any pictures any of the items inside due to copyright and other legal issues. It is a wonderful place to visit. I learnt so much and discovered many things about our geographical location, as well as, our flora and fauna that I originally did not give much thought to. This is definitely a place to visit and take your kids to. They also have short videos on our history and some of our local art works. I would suggest a whole day to really internalize, enjoy and appreciate our...

Informative museum on the first floor about the history of the my twin island home. Second floor has an exhibition of paintings sculptures by local artist. Even two by my late art teacher. But MORE professional curation is greatly needed. Some of the pieces seem dusty and deteriorating. Poor lighting and uninspired installations. The WITCO sports room has not been updated with latest Trinidad athletes, the pictures are yellowing out and fading. They seem to be in the same condition as when I first saw them 35 years ago. CURATION!

The museum is one of my happy places, took my daughter for the first time and she loved it too. Not much has changed since my first visit years ago, yet every time I visit I discover something new. Hoping that with the major renovations coming up they really do this national treasure justice (and maintain it too) First time I've been allowed to take pictures inside as well. The guy at the front said, take as many as we want so we can compare when the renovations are through.

We thought it was more of an art gallery, but were pleasantly surprised at the mix of natural history (animals and plants), as well as cultural history (pre and post colonisation). Even more exciting was the pieces displayed by locals art in the run up to Carnival 2020. We enjoyed the visit and would definitely recommend.
