Non-Muslims are forbidden to enter the mosque but the rest of the compound is worth viewing. If you want to know more about the structures and the Barber Wikipedia has a good writeup. From it: "Abu Zama'a al-Balawi (also known as Sidi Sahib), the barber and a Companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, was buried here in 654 after dying in battle. Tradition also holds that he was buried with three hairs from Muhammad's beard. Today, he is also considered the town's patron saint." For more from Wikipedia search: "Zawiya...

This mausoleum is of great importance to the Islamic world. There is inside a famous tomb of Abu Zamaa el-Balaoui, a companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It is visited by many Muslims that visit Tunisia. The art work inside the walled mosque are beautifully tiled with repeating patterns, and also white plaster that is carved with intricate Arabic designs. Non Muslims cannot enter the tomb area. It is well worth a visit on the trail of Kairouan and covered by the one off payment of 12 dinar to enter the town’s...

The mosque or Zawiya of Sidi Sahib, also known as Abu Zam'a, al-Balawi or Mosque of the Barber, is a zawiya in Kairouan, Tunisia. He was the barber of our holy prophet Muhammad and he died in this area, so people made him a small shrine which enlarged later to become one of the most visited places in the city. Many people come to celebrate Engagement or circumcision. Free entry.
