One of our best meals and experiences in Tunisia! Everything about this place was perfect. The food was incredible, made with fresh ingredients, and attention and care. The menu features a wide variety of Tunisian specialties including "super food" breakfast items. We loved the food and experience so much we came back the following day within our short one day visit in Kairouan. For dinner/lunch, highly recommend the salad (mezze), mulukhiyya (unique Tunisian dish made with jute plant. They make a vegan version), shashuka (different from the Lebanese style ones that people in North America know of), rowina (whole grain drink), and millet drink. For breakfast, we loved the couscous with dried fruits and nuts and the white assida.
The other amazing part about this cafe is the owner Hayfa who is an incredible female entrepreneur. She also runs a marketing agency helping local small businesses and ladies and totally revived the street. The world needs more people like her!
This place was definitely the highlight of our visit...

Read moreIn the quaint alleyways of Keirawan just a few steps away from the three-door mosque, the smell of traditional Tunisien food greeted us at the door of a charming cafe as we passed by.
The ladies running the place are pleasantly genuine and welcoming.
We asked what they offer and we got the works! Dont let the "Cafè" in the name fool you... They make a big variety of traditional dishes amongst others.
We had the "Qarwi" which translates to "the villager". Delicious.
Then we got a couple of sweet dishes (both traditional), particularly "Zgougou" and "Ghrayef with sugar".
And we topped it off with "Rosata" and "Soh'hlob" for drinks.
Beautiful all around!
Then when we chatted with the owner, she told us the place's story and some facts about the city and herself.
شكرا جزيلا على الأكل الممتاز والطيب واللطف والضيافة! حسينا حالنا بقهوة ضيعتنا 😊...
