Willy Lott's cottage is on the National Trust's site at Flatford Mill. It is seen in some of John Constables paintings including The Haywain.

If you want to visit this and see an important part of Constables history. For a £5 parking fee you can visit the Flatford Mill site where you can see the cottage along with Flatford Mill, and some of the best views of the River Stour you will ever see.

Well worth a visit, highly...

Seeing the inspiration behind Constables "The Haywain“ with one's own eyes after 200 years is really something to behold. We walked to Flatford from Dedham, along the River Stour stopping off at the National Trust tearooms for refreshments and the public toilets opposite the RSPB Gardens for a comfort break. You can walk back to Dedham via the Vale/countryside as a circular walk. All in all, about 4...

This is a beautiful house that was indeed painted by John Constable in 1832 & 1820 ( Willy Lott's Cottage )

It's pretty to look upon and feel a connection with those paintings and the beautiful surroundings

Although the house is owned by the NT you cannot go into the house.

It is still a pretty enough place to go and visit if your...

THIS IS A MUST VISIT. If you like CONSTERBLE only cost £5 for both of us short walk to centre which has photos of his paintings. Then walk down the path to were the hay rig was painted. and the barge painting in dry dock spent a couple of hours here and went into willy lots cottage just as it was back in the time mind your head low celling.

Aside from being the cottage made famous by Constable... Walking passed it takes you on to some lovely valley walks. There are two signed paths, orange and purple which take you up to some lovely view points on grassy paths, around a wood which has den building within and then back down to a picturesque lake with bird hides either end.
