Very nice cakes and sandwiches. The res' is beautiful. It was busy but didn't feel crowded. The blackberries and wild plums (red, yellow and purple) were ready when we were there and it was lovely to see quite a few people foraging them and filling their tubs. Obviously lovey setting with the working mill and all. Feel like the cafe service is the bit that makes this review drop a star. Bit of a weird setup. They have a large outdoor area and a small indoor area. If you're outside then you have to order from a little hatch thing with a tiny little viewing window for some reason other than going in and being able to look at the produce on offer. Surley just let people in and order from the counter? Sort this out and this place would get 5 stars as the quality of the produce...

Very pleasant walk, we took the grand children for an afternoon and they loved it, trees, wilderness, wild plants, geese and ducks, if my grand daughter is to be believed dinosaur tracks in the backwoods, and Nessie's aunty in the lake as well. Then a delightful cup of coffee and walk around the mill, the kids loved that, we had all on keeping them out of the hoppers, half an hour watching them hurtle around the playground whilst we drew breath, then a walk back to the car, past dozens of freshly made clay figures from the craft class and home for a glass of Yorkshire bitter, me not the...

We have just returned home from a very interesting visit to Worsbrough Mill. However we intended to have lunch at the cafe there but could not. This was because my wife has a fish allergy and the staff were unable to make us ANY food and not guarantee it would be free from cross contamination. In this day and age this is very poor service from a catering establishment no matter how small. What about people with nut allergies or gluten intolerance? Do they get the same short thrift.

Needless to say this reduced the enjoyment of the day.

The staff in the mill are superb. Those in the cafe...

Plenty of cheap, safe parking available. Well presented, clean and tidy toilets at the beginning of the Main official entrance. Also there is a wonderful old (working) Flour mill in pristine condition.Near the flour mill is a excellent cafe, food and drinks excellent, but its expensive. The main attraction is the hugh lake,a nice easy walk around the lake, different types of birds can be seen on the water and in the beautiful woodlands.A really nice pleasant experience,we regularly visit here at different times of the year,we highly recommend a visit.

Very nice country park near Barnsley few minutes drive from our house, good walking and cycling track, not maintained tracks as expected, less people, for kids good fun with ducks and fishes. When we reached coffee/ice cream shop it was closed, also good fishing spot if some one interested. I met few fishermen, interestingly, they caught few fishes and released them back in water, we havenโ€™t completed the complete trail/tracks because of my kids, who got tired. I will visit this place again with full picnic preparation

There are nice pleasant walks around this reservoir which are surrounded by woodland and fields. The mill cafe is a great place for a drink and the pond has a picnic area and benches. Unfortunately we didn't get into the mill as it seems only open at the weekends, which is such a shame. The car parking is ยฃ3 for the day or ยฃ1/ยฃ2 for an hour or two. Really enjoyed it and we will probably return. We it's good for a morning or afternoon walk but probably not enough for a full day, but so you may have time for Elsecar too
