We are so lucky to have the Chertsey Meads on our doorstep. Sadly at the moment it is in a sorry state because of all the upheaval caused by the installation of the Esso pipeline. If you are lucky you might see some deer on your walk across the Meads. 28/7/23 Sadly our beautiful hay meadow is still in a mess in places and still fenced off due to the pipeworks. Access is still possible for walking. 17/ 3 /24 Still lots of mud and flood water areas. Dog swimming in rain water pool/lake. Newly planted trees and whips here and there. Newly pollarded and coppice trees too. Road edges in need of repair. 19 June 2024 Big change on Meads now. All the grass on right hand side has been cut and bailed for hay/haylege. Being taken away as I write. Such hard work for the men in this heat.

This is a lovely annual show lasting the whole weekend. Lots to keep the children entertained. The Chertsey Show has being going a long time, last weekend was the 180th version. It's well spread out, perhaps it's best years are behind it. But it has a lovely vibe, there's nothing better than the children's tug of war.

Walked with friends on a Sunday, beautiful interesting, easy parking which was free. when we got to the lock we had tea in a lovely cafe overlooking the River. Then we crossed over the lock and took the ferry which cost £2.50 for a very short trip but fun. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our day out in this area.

Park with riverside view.... 71 hectares (175 acres) of wildflower meadow on the banks of the Thames, Chertsey Meads is a wide open space popular with families and dog walkers alike. It has a modern children’s play area and two picnic areas with views across the river Thames. It is great for walks and family outings. Two free car parks provide ample parking. The meadows are particularly attractive from May to July when the wild flowers are in bloom. Chertsey Meads is an open area of remnant floodplain meadow on the banks of the River Thames. Over 400 species of plants have been recorded, including flowers, grasses and sedges. 108 species of bird have been recorded including lesser whitethroat, reed bunting and sedge and reed warbler. Some of the flowering plant species found in the grassland are unusual due to calcium carbonate that has been deposited onto the site when the Thames has flooded. These unusual plants, which are usually found in chalk grassland include meadow cranesbill and...

We stopped off here to have lunch. But it was a bad decision. There was rubbish everywhere. Bins were over flowing. (Thursday afternoon) Children seemed to be enjoying the water. Hope it was cleaner than the surrounding areas! Had lunch back in the car in the car park. Facing away from the children’s playground. Took my rubbish away with...
