Visited the Kingfisher yesterday afternoon for lunch with a friend and I have to say, our waiter Liam gave us amazing customer service. He was welcoming, polite, attentive to our needs and ensured we left happy. The fact that he had a sense of humour was a bonus. He was a good communicator, to the point he sold the place to us to where we plan to return. My friend was recommended the scampi dish as a starter, which he had never tasted before and he loved it. Our main meals were amazing. We just felt for a rack of lamb, there should have been a bit more on the plate. For our dessert we had the apple and blueberry crumble with custard, which was delicious. A big thank you to Liam and the rest of the staff, including the chefs, for making our visit a memorable one.

This used to be a lovely pub with amazing food and service but it's really gone downhill! I was served the most unappetising meal I've ever seen. The eggs were completely ruined and smeared on the plate (see picture). I've never sent a dish back, even if it's not been the best but I just couldn't eat this and the 2nd portion wasn't much better. No gluten free bread to go with the pate and wasn't offered an alternative until I asked what they could do and was eventually offered a side salad. Ordered a coffee but 10 minutes later when it still hadn't arrived, I reminded the barman who said he forgot!!! It's such a lovely pub and the setting is gorgeous but they need to get their finger out and get it back on track food and service-wise!!!

Not a good day in the office for the Chef. We come here once a year, as my wife used to be a manager here and we visit every year, family and we always eat here. I ordered the steak salad, but it was so chewy, I had to send it back, I then had the sea bass sent to me, it was cooked badly. Skin was wet and slippery, the flesh was crispy and dry. So I didn't have a main course. Dessert came. Chocolate bomb, the sauce is supposed to melt the bomb. The sauce Was cool. So in all, I did not enjoy myself. The Staff where accommodating, helpful, apologetic and really nice. Like I said, bad day for the Chef. The front of house Staff where great. Hope its better next year.

Visited the restaurant on the 17/07 as my early birthday treat. Did not feel welcome, there was no wow factor in anything especially when you are charging so much. It was very quiet one other table other than us and 2/3 drinkers outside. It took 10/15 mins for someone to come over and ask if we wanted any drinks, the drinks took a while to arrive. I had to find someone to order food as my 15 month old baby was getting frustrated. I have ordered from the lunch menu I had the squid and steak sandwich, my partner had sticky chicken and linguine, my son had sausage and mash. the squid was chewy the chicken my partner has was nice but nothing special for the asking price. My steak in the sandwich did not taste or smell fresh, it was sour and you could tell i could tell it was spoiled. I have been a head chef for 12 years. There was no one around to speak to about this matter my son didn’t want to eat his food neither. My partner’s linguine did smell too fishy and the prawns did look raw. After we got up and we’re about to leave a lady walked past us my partner got get attention and asked for the bill which came up to just under £100. When we left there were staff members standing and talking amongst themselves when we said thank you goodbye we got ignored. This was a very unpleasant experience. I have spent all my night in the toilet. My sons belly is not looking too good either and now my partner stated his stomach is turning and hurting. I am so disappointed as it was my birthday treat and spending £100 for a meal out for a small family where there is only one provider it is a lot only to end up regretting it so much. We have heard all good reviews about the place so I thought I would choose it however I am really paying...

Went to the Kingfisher last night and what a disappointment!!! Very surprised to see the car park half empty as on the many occasions we have come it’s been rammed! But, realised why as the evening went on. The welcome was……Not welcoming, no nice greeting not even eye contact. Taken to our table at the back of the restaurant in the function room, sadly the ‘server’ who’s in charge of that section is the most unwelcoming, unhappy, rude person I have ever come across in a restaurant!! He was dressed in casual clothes and trainers for a second I thought he was a guest hanging around the staff section but no he was staff! No emotions, looked miserable, no welcome, no eye contact didn’t look up from the iPad and interact, shocking really! In between serving he was hunched over the staff area looking on his phone! When he brought plates of food over he slid them onto the table not passing it properly to who had ordered it, didn’t ask if we were enjoying our food didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks. Our mains were bought to us by another waiter and he was very pleasant and we managed to ask him for another drink. To be fair my food was nice my husband’s pork belly was awful just fat- really not up to standard!!!! What is happening at the Kingfisher????? Really sad to see you are employing staff that obviously don’t want to work there and don’t like the hospitality business! Sadly, NOT value for money and NOT an enjoyable experience, we always try to support local business but for now we’ll be giving...

Awful experience. From the moment we sere seated, we were made to feel unwelcome by one of the managers who was waiting tables and taking orders. There was zero ounce of enthusiasm as our drinks order was taken, if anything we were made to feel uncomfortable and un welcome. 50mins after our order was taken, the food came out, cold. We brought this to the waiter's attention who didn't care and seemed un phased by the whole ordeal. We only didn't send the food back because we had waited so long and had a 15month old to worry about. My dish also had a hair in which I brought to the man's attention and he shrugged it off and took my plate. At no point during the service were we asked if anything was ok, I had to flag them down to explain the issues, we weren't ssked if we would like more drinks and after 30 mins waiting for someone to come and speak to us/offer drinks or generally clear the stuff away we had to ask for the bill numerous times. The whole ordeal was awful and unpleasant and we will not return. They made Faulty Towers look appealing. Had The Inn at Maybury had an available booking we would have gone there which is a...
