updated after revisiting Excellent little find, a treasure trove of gorgeous businesses - our favourite of which WAS Duck and Blade butchery - not to be missed, however it has now been taken over by Brogdales. Follow the way the stilted town hall points you, wander down a beautiful road of chocolate box medieval houses, look for The Anchor pub and it's down to the left. We spent ages looking through antiques and trinketry and had a wonderful roast lamb dinner as a result of the butcher at Duck and Blades.
In our most recent visit we discovered that if you visit the tearoom and input your car reg into the tablet at the counter, you'll get more than 2 hours free parking and avoid the £100 fine. The tearoom wasn't serving hot food when we got there, so we tried the Anchor pub but couldn't get light bites or children's food. Read moreIt’s a dock or harbour or quay on an estuary that once saw thriving sea trade responsible for the town’s prosperous growth. Sadly those days are long gone and what is left is a scruffy series of car parks on the edge of the dock surrounded by nondescript buildings mainly unrelated to the sea. There’s an even scruffier walk up stream. The scene is not lifted by the moored crafts which matches well the rest of the offering. All this is a great shame as the way in from the centre is via some really interesting historical domestic buildings all exceptionally well preserved and maintained. No idea who owns the quay but the council need to step in and develop this area as top visitor attraction - or let the developers privatise it as they have done...
