A wonderful place for nature lovers, especially bird watchers and photographers. I recently visited and photographed sparrows, a dunnock, tufted ducks, and a reed bunting. The reserve sits near the River Wyre estuary, with scenic views across to Knott End. The salt marshes provide a rich habitat, and the hulks of old fishing trawlers add a unique, atmospheric touch to the landscape. On lucky days, you might spot swallows darting through the air—though capturing them in flight is quite the challenge! The paths can be a bit rough in places, so sturdy footwear is recommended. A great spot for dog walkers, bird watchers, or even a bit of fishing. Plus, Fleetwood town and all its amenities are just a short distance away. Well worth a visit!

We called here by default, as we had intended to go into Cleveleys. As soon as we got out of the car we were covered in horrid black sticky flies. Swarms everywhere. It was so bad we got back in the car and travelled in-land to the Nature reserve. What a find only a few cars so lovely and quiet. We had a lovely walk round and had a chat to a local man walking his dog who told us about a local chippy to try later. If I lived in that area I would definitely use the reserve as part of my daily walk/run. There was also a lovely housing estate just facing which looked very well kept. There was a model flying club too but we didn’t get a chance to see them in action. Definitely worth a visit. Take a packed lunch/picnic and just sit.

Like to 5 star but was not nice local kids late at night on motorbikes hammering them through the reserve and using horns. Then some bad dog owners off leads and terrorising birds. Not one issue from out of town visitors noted in 3 days. Mrs buzzing seen first wild barn owl and got to use her life boat on the water.Well worth the visit shops very close but quiet/secluded at the same time. Will be back to stop again.

A hidden gem right on the estuary. Lovely sculptured archway with little animals hidden in, great for the kids to search them out. Small lake with walkway across and plenty of ducks and birds to look at. Meeting place for model aeroplane enthusiasts, another thing to entertain the children. Walk a little north of the reserve and there are some old boats on the shore that you can walk right up to when the tide is low and its not too wet...and a playground up that way too. Unfortunately not everyone picks up after their dogs, and I have been down when kids using it as a...
