I chatted to a lovely couple walking the downs a week ago. We all summarised that the downs is very unique, a rare place. Very rare with green spaces vanishing and complacent attitude from so many about the future. No one is thinking about the future. Busy lifestyles not taking Time to think about young in your family what is going to happen. Then, joy riders in cars. BMW, Mercs, Idiots. If these idiots passed tests to drive. Speed in expensive cars. Its not Goodwood race course. Fine example what money does. Makes you abusive. Setting example for young. You, speeders pay a suffering price. These are the ones that should pay hefty fines. Set a example of them in papers. Am I wasting my time considering the future. Why, wealthy, must be intelligent enough to pass a test. That level of expensive cars. Speaks of men i wouldn't trust but laugh at them as these are the type creating utter doom just because they think that they are it. A car, symbol of what in their minds yet more than likely unable to be honest and again this rapidly growing abusive lifestyle is why riots are taking place. Well. I am starting still to consider my own self euthanasia because these corrupt things are destroying quality of life for me,many...
Read moreI come from a long line of highly respected bird watchers. I brought my extremely old grandmother to this spot and we didn't see a bird all day. It was bizarre. Bird watchers are a proud people and this failure to spot any birds brought immense shame on our family. At the end of the day she turns to me and goes "I don't have the time left to recover my reputation. Thanks to you this is how I'll be remebered" and walks off. So I don't hear from her for a while and then she passes away. At the funeral some child hands me an envelope. Inside is a cheque for six and a half trillion pounds and a note to say she's leaving her fortune and bird watching empire to me. Early that day on the downs, she had seen an ostrich out of the corner of her eye. She stayed quiet and let me wait there all day as a test. I showed conviction and strength of character. She believed I have what it takes to make it. Anyway all that aside the downs is nothing special- I can see why the birds generally avoid it. Now that I'm rich I'll probably buy it and build...
Read moreThe Clifton suspension bridge is arguably the most famous Bristol landmark, and the surrounding green land is also a jewel.
If you visit Bristol, then the Clifton Downs next to the Bristol end is a must see. Not only is there extensive green parklands, other stuff is available.
There is a camera obscura which is basically a big horizontal telescope projector. Underneath the little tower where the shop is, there is a walkway to the cave overlooking the Avon gorge. Both if these are unfortunately not open right now due to the "human malware".
And there is the kids' playground as well which can get a little muddy but is still great fun for the little ones.
And of course, mustn't forget the rockface slide. Literally a 45 degree wall of rock where kids, of all ages, have slid down. It's seen so many bums sliding down that it's become very shiny and so more slippery and more fun/faster.
So, come on over. See the bridge, walk the paths through the greenery, slide down the...
