I am not usually one to write reviews for restaurants and this is my first ever google review, but this is the first time I have been made to feel so uncomfortable I have left a restaurant. A couple of weeks ago my partner and I visited Bosco Pizzeria after being recommended by a work colleague. I was looking forward to the dining at Bosco but had a pretty diabolical experience from a specific member of staff. When we visited the restaurant was busy, and the staff managed to seat us at the bar. While my partner and I were discussing which cocktails we would like to get, the bar tender(who had clearly been eavesdropping on the conversation) rudely interjected. I have never been spoken to by a member of staff with such unprompted rudeness, in a raised voice he rudely told my partner she would not like the cocktail she was considering. He did not speak to us in a respectful tone, nor did he discuss with us alternative suggestions. He just rudely shut her down with a pretty aggressive attitude in a conversation he was not involved in. We sat in silence for a while after this interaction, and when the same bartender(I am assuming he is some kind of managerial role) began to get irate over the fact a table had order peach syrup or something, speaking to staff with the same crude tone and aggressive attitude right in front of a crowed restaurant we decided to leave. I am very disappointed in this experience, I have never had staff be so rude and abrasive to customers and other staff in a front of house and seemingly managerial role. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to try the food, as the atmosphere was so unpleasant and I highly doubt I will be visiting Bosco Pizzeria anytime...
Read moreIt was a long time since I've experienced such rude and inflexible service. It was my partner's 30th birthday celebration, and so we called to book a couple of table to fit all the guests (around 12 people). When we've called a few days beforehand to ask whether the tables can be close together, the staff laughed at the request and said there's no chance. When we've arrived at the restaurant, we were sat at the complete opposites of the venue. Where myself and a few guests were sat, there was a free table behind us (big enough to accommodate 8 people, judging by the numbers of chairs). I've asked whether our friends could move over from the booth, to which I was told that there was no chance of that. The table remained empty until the end of our visit. The cherry on the top however, was when our friends were giving my partner his birthday present. Sometime between unwrapping the paper and starting to sing happy birthday, the waiter came over to say 'I'm sorry to interrupt your celebration, but you'd need to order soon as we've got booking for this table at 7pm'. We have just arrived. It was 10, quarter past 5 and nobody came to the table yet to ask if we're ready to order. Nobody came to either tables to ask how was our food - which to be honest, was quite alright. Just not worth the effort and disappointment. We were 'served' by a stocky woman with reddish hair and Eastern European accent. I would not recommend this venue for your celebrations or even if you're just after having...
Read moreI've had some mixed experiences here.
The first time was fantastic: perfectly cooked pizza which impressed our Italian and Swiss guests, a great range of delicious and authentic flavours, and very helpful waiting staff. On the basis of that trip alone, I would be giving a five star review and couldn't wait to return.
Unfortunately the second experience was not so great. The service was slow, despite the hectic pace of the service staff. The pizza I ordered, admittedly a bit of a wildcard, was greasy and fatty. The flavours were fine but in my opinion the texture did not work and I ended up leaving it half-eaten (tragic).
Another guest's pizza arrived with large portions of the crust blackened. When this was mentioned to the server (who agreed that parts of the pizza were not edible), the manager offered replace the pizza and take it off the bill. So far, so good. A few moments later, exactly the same pizza was returned — the blackest portions of the crust had simply been snapped off. That was a bit of a Fawlty Towers moment...
In conclusion, try to go when the staff aren't likely to be overstretched, and choose one of the more...
