I popped in with a friend after a local appointment, we'd has excellent outdoor fish & chips up.on the Moor at New Lodge and thought it was time for muttley to have some fun. She had eaten half of my fish with the batter removed and probably just wanted to nap but she walked her little legs off then promptly fell asleep after a long bus ride home !! I've always loved Manor heath Park as there's something for everyone & the council could do sooo much more with it but they're not doing badly at all so far. It was a lovely day so the swings etc were packed with mums & preschoolers & half of the local mutts must have been out for a stroll !! We rediscovered the secret garden which has got to be a must for everyone & met a beautiful newborn on one of her first trips into the big wide world, not that she was very aware of it 😂 !! Four generations of a family aren't that common sadly but great grandma looked in her element. The Jungle experience?? An easy 12/10 because they've now moved all the bedding plants indoors so they're far better protected while they're growing. There's an excellent display of unusual fly eating plants which most adults let alone children would ever see and the jungle part was quite quiet as we were there mid afternoon. Mums, dads & grandparents......if you've a youngster to occupy bring them to the park. It's free other than the Cafe & a pretty cheap entry fee in the jungle experience but there's a lot of swings and work going on around the paddling pools. Lots of very friendly families and individuals around for a natter if that's your cup of tea or take a picnic lunch, who over 40 never did that as a child on a day out ?? I know we lived on free days out whether parks or the seaside & at least you don't get sand in your butties here !! Give it a try, I'm sure you'll not be...
Read moreThis is really lovely park! We visited the jungle experience for the first time on bank holiday Monday and we were really impressed with the jungle being only £1.00 charge pp. It was very well kept with beautiful butterflies, turtles, flowers etc. The grounds are well kept with a great park for little ones! We also noticed a splash park - only a shallow pool of water but it was enough fun for the kids who enjoyed the water play to cool off in the warm weather, it also has enough seating around the outside for the adults to watch on the side. Parking was free up to 4 hours which is also a bonus!! My only criticism would be the cafe- although they have a nice variety of food which is reasonably priced, the lady who served us wasn't the most friendly and helpful as she miss heard my order - causing confusion. She didn't deal with the matter in a professional way and spoke to me quite rudely which unfortunately put a dampner on our day. 👎
We had a lovely day, and it was well...
Read moreSet inside the park just a stones throw away from the cafe you will find this wonderful place. Johnny was absolutely amazing and really informative. The entrance fee is £1 and it's cash only, but 100% worth it. The walkway through the greenhouses was slightly narrow in some places but mostly doable with a wheelchair about 75cm in width. The abundance of tropical flowers and plants, combined with the heat and humidity, makes you feel like you're walking through the amazon rainforest. The butterfly house is slightly cooler in temperature and you have to look really hard to find them hidden amongst the trees. However we were lucky that a few were flying around and one even...
