Read moreLovely gem of a park around the corner from Calderdale Royal Hospital. It has a Butterfly House within the park and a pond, woodland perimeter walks, play area, paddling/splash pool, formal gardens and open spaces. Takes our old Staffy a good 30 minutes to walk around the woodland footpath which follows around 3 sides of the park. But you can easily spend a couple of hours here with children including visiting the butterfly house. There's a café and sometimes there's an ice cream van. Beware toilets are horrible metal ones costing 20p(last time I went), we visit McDonald's toilets FREE about ½ a mile away at the bottom of Salterhebble hill. (hence 4*) There are sometimes events held at the park too like the RSPCA dog show in the summer. There is free parking on roadside parking areas but only at weekends, during the week I believe 8am - 6pm it's Pay & Display. There is a very small free carpark. Other roads nearby are resident permit holders only. Bus 503 537 between Huddersfield - Halifax stops within a 10 minute walk at the Calderdale...

It's very cheap, lots of entertainment and all the staff seem to be very friendly. The parks and entertainment areas was all very clean and not a single bit of rubbish on the floor. I couldn't recommend this place enough for someone looking for a cheap fun day out.
