Read morePebbled beach area between Whitstable and Herne Bay in Kent. If you just want the beach and not amusements and arcades this is a perfect place to visit and I've never seen it crowded out. Street parking above the beach is free of charge, next to the road is a wide grassed area and steps lead down to the beach at various points and at one end there is a slope. There are two places to get refreshments, one at each end. At the end nearest to Whitstable there is a takeaway and a seated one is at the Herne Bay end. There is also a pub with plenty of outdoor seating plus a hotel with outdoor seating that allows non guests. Both serve food. The beach offers great views out to sea where you'll see entry of ships passing by,about 5 miles out to sea are two sets of WW2 Maunsell towers which can be seen clearly most of the time, take your binoculars for better views. The promenade next to the back goes all the way to Whitstable, enjoy looking at the large number of brightly painted beach huts...
Read moreGreat Beach, it's largely pebbles and the odd sand patch but don't let that put you off. The Water Quality is good and as such a blue flag has been awarded consistently for years.
The only downside is the bloody climb back up to the top when loaded up, there is however a way around this. Go all the way down marine crescent until you reach a dead end and the beach is then only 10 feet away down a slope, this part is also Wheelchair accessible

To date there are NO Lifeguards here, nearest beach with Lifeguards is at Herne Bay approx 4 miles...
