Our biggest issue was the fact cleanliness was very poor. We kept getting bits stuck to our feet and quickly realised the floor had not been cleaned. We then used a pack of antibac wipes to clean the floor which came off black. There was brown splashes under the toilet seat and on the back of the door which could have been poo, sick or mud, either way not good. Food splashes and food on the wall next to the kitchen table. It all made us feel very uncomfortable and we should not have to clean the room when we arrive, especially for £170 a night||||Pictures in the marketing materials were very misleading. The property is called a cottage with supporting marketing materials showing lovely images of a stand alone stone building (what I think of when I hear cottage). Internal pictures showed wide open spaces and multiple rooms leading off from the living room. I thought I was booking a nice stand alone idyllic cottage but a few days before we were due to arrive the floor plan arrived showing a one room layout (with bathroom attached) and looked rather cramped. Again, for £170 a night I really expected more for my money.||||The marketing materials also showed a nice tea room which looked inviting, but when we arrived it was a large tent outside and didn't look very inviting. Breakfast was an additional £10 per person, which I feel is too much given the room rate, especially to eat in a tent. We didn't eat on site as a result and had to find alternative placed to eat.||||When we complained to the Housekeeper the next morning she said she would need to speak to 'Chang?' and we were there for a further 2 full days and we heard nothing back, not even a note in the room to update us.||||There were also building works going on next to our 'cottage' that we were not warned about. Nice surprise with the builders starting at 8am each day too.||||The accommodation is REALLY not worth £170, cleanliness is a big issue and it put us off putting our son to bed in the sofa bed. He slept with us for the duration of our stay which meant we did not get a decent nights sleep and again wasn't what we were expecting out of our break. Totally ruined our one time away since before COVID. Gutted and I would not recommend to...
Read moreWe were a group of three girls travelling from London for a weekend away to escape city life and also not too far off from Eden project (Christmas lights) and about 6 minutes from St.Austell station (direct train to/from Paddington)||||We stayed at Moongate 4 (the one with the picturesque view of the pond with ducks and wooden bridge just we’ve seen in the website).||||The spaces were very clean and warm and all the kitchen appliances were very easy to use. We cooked our own food and there was no problem in asking to check for a more suitable cookware. Tesco was our nearest place to reach out for any recipes or essentials.|| ||The garden has such a calming spiritual aura with its Chinese cultural influence and each zone was different from the other. So many species of plants and the even though you are visiting the garden don’t forget there’s a whole other acres of lands worth strolling around.||||The owner “Lee” was nice enough to tell us the history behind the works done at Pinetum Gardens. You will notice a lot of the reclaimed materials used at the place. Feel free to speak to the staffs or even the locals if you have any questions.. they are well informed and very nice people. ||||Only one thing I’d say is double check the weather condition. The cold is manageable but due to the time we have visited, it was raining and hailing and windy quite a bit in Cornwall. The weather was not in our favour but if you’re prone to all weather conditions ( fully equipped) then it’s a beautiful place to visit and explore. ||||Overall We had a great time and we felt very welcomed by the staffs and the owner who was very kind and generous...
Read moreWe stayed here for Christmas taking our cat with us as it had ample, safe space we could exercise & meander the immaculate, mature gardens. We choose this base as it was close to family member. We booked into Moongate 6, generous in size, cosy & bed extremely comfortable. Hob & towel rail a little complicated to use. The next day we had to locate to another lodge as the 1 we booked into later developed issues with water flow. Mr Li tried to accommodate us by showing us three other lodges which we accepted lodge 1. Though smaller in size, the hob, towel rail all worked perfectly. We had 5he use of mobility wheelchair for our mum. She was able to view sites on her doorstep she's never been able to see before. Unfortunately, though it states clearly all dogs to be kept on short leads, we found a couple of large breed dogs roaming the gardens without leash. The dogs were out of control. Inconsiderate owners treating the garden & like a public park with no respect for the geese, ducks & other visitors. Of course taking our cat out to experience the wonders of the grounds was a relief knowing they had left. This was the only negative encounter we had. There were many other leashed dogs, well behaved. Clearly not a problem... Just the owners.|Think the bedroom could benefit from bed lamps & a later departure time available at no extra cost would be more customer friendly. All in all, our stay was short, but perfectly catered for. Would we stay here...
