This the first time I've visited the venue, and I found the disabled facilities lacking. The disabled parking was in a health centre nearby, and still involved a significant walk.
I didn't find a disabled toilet at all while I was there, I imagine there was one, but it was hard enough to find the standard toilets (we had to ask, and the ladies was tucked around a corner our of sight. I hate to think where they hid the disabled toilet!) Those toilets we did find were also a significant walk from the theatre!
There were lots of stairs everywhere, nearly impossible to avoid, and we only found a lift at the end of the performance we saw, so that wasn't obvious either! The stairs did have a lift to carry a wheelchair up them, but wheelchair users are not the only disabled people that a venue needs to be aware of- personally I use a stick and other supports. I can walk but not far or well, and steps are hard. I'm far from unique in my needs.
The seating at the bar before the performance was also severely lacking. There were these squishy cubes to sit on with no back support or arms, and a whole load of high stool seats. Neither suitable for disabled visitors. There were a few suitable seats, but of course they were all taken. There weren't enough seats at all. The entire party I visited with had to stand leaning on a wall for support, and two of us were disabled and in significant pain because we could not sit down anywhere.
In the theatre itself, the seats were cramped together and a little uncomfortable in terms of space, but tolerable, leg room was good, arm room not so much!
The venue was clean and the staff were friendly, but I still did not feel welcome as a disabled guest, as it felt very geared to the able bodied.
If you struggle with your mobility at all and do not use a wheelchair, I wouldn't recommend going here at all. For a very new looking building, it's very unaware of the needs of disabled visitors, it would do well to look at somewhere like the Midlands Art Centre (MAC) in Birmingham that does an excellent job at...

Read moreI visited the venue last night with my friends for the Tina Turner tribute and I have to say that even though the singer and band were amazing, I was very shocked at how shockingly over priced the drinks are there and the bar area is a very small space with not a lot of room when it is busy and yet there is a large general space next to it with not enough seating !! My friend and I were almost jumped upon by one of the staff and told no filming allowed and I am not sure if I was more offended by that approach or not being able to film memories ! My friends and I were just so surprised at how the audience were just sitting and starring at the act well it wasn't long before we realised this was because we were then told we could not stand up and dance because we would offend other people!! sitting behind, well I'm sorry ,but I PAID A LOT OF MONEY! for my ticket so if anyone wants to stay glued to their seat at a music event then watch it on you tube at home!? We were told we could dance right at the top of the balcony! Which meant leaving our seats and climbing the stairs ! The singer Invited the audience to dance for the last two songs in our places!? It has been such a tough few years for everyone especially this year so the restrictions just felt so military and clearly it is only about the money for this venue! I will not be returning to this venue again and it sadly is highly likely that I will advise my friends to think twice before going to this venue ! I think the event managers should re think this...
